I bought some "Q" towers from Yakima. Their website is okay, but if you find a local dealer, they can help out tremendously. I also mounted (permanently) Yakima towers on my campershell as well.

With the Q-Towers and some bars, you can then add a basket or whatever you want.

I would go with Thule and in fact did. I have seen the Yak bars rust through. The Thule stuff is beef. It's the brand that we recommend at the shop. If the customer wants Yak, we'll order it. All of our cars have Thule systems and they have been bombproof. Yak stuff is usually cheaper, but not quite as nice. The one exception that I make is that the Yak LoadWarrior is way better priced than the Thule Moab. There are also all kinds of mounts for the accessories you mentioned. I would suggest a Thule base system(feet, fit kit and load bars) and the Yak basket.

I just used Thule's direct mount roof kit the TK14 on my bedrails and then got some 65" loadbars to make a bed cargo system. The feet are press button release and have lock cores to prevent theft. Here''s a pic.

I'm not even sure if they still sell this rack, but this is what it is. The pic on the website is actually my truck now - Hannibal traded it in and I just happened to buy it, roof rack already installed (bastages took off the CBI bumpers :( though). I would've never payed that price for the rack, but it was already installed! It's verrry well made.

Where did you find those adapters for axe/shovel and spare tire mounts? I haven't seen any by Yakima.

This is just a few racks I have made for my own trucks but I have been thinking about building for others if interested. These racks were all made with 1" x .064 tubing light but strong enough.

Geez weasel that is a nice home made rack, I don't really like the Yakima warrior rack, I was thinking surco rack but it's like 500 buxs that don't feel like spending since I have a 79 pickup that I'm working on. And maybe getting a 91 pickup for 500 buxs from a friend

There are some really nice racks out there but for me to spend $500.00 to $1000.00 I decided to build my own. My friend was looking at a Gobi for his 4runner $1300.00 . My build quality might not be the same but I can save him $1000.00 :D and get what he wants.

Thanks. I was going to go with Surco because I didn't know Yakima made mounts for their rack. Does anyone have an opinion on Yakima versus Surco? Any help is appreciated.
