What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

You know it just rattled around (poorly packed?) until it just busted that box open.

 

He said cost was 110 Plus time. Cost to me means if you bought the material and did it yourself but if you have someone else provide then markup… let’s say 15$. Not sure how much shipping is but let’s guess 30ish. Wear and tear machine/router/bits (overhead)… let’s say 5$. Can’t forget about time because nobody wants to work for free- guessing an hr at a min 25$. Those numbers seem conservative to me and we’re at 185… but doesn’t smart business practices add a bit for profit/growth or should that be part of any of the numbers I mentioned above?

so IMO 150-175 isn’t even close to a nice profit if even breaking even and time is given for free.

 

If you targeted $220 US, is that competitive to the other tailgate cover manufacturers?

I used these. Much brighter. And white light instead of yellow. Comes with all interior as well as license plate lights. The license plate bulbs were the only ones that gave me trouble.

How do you like that WaterPort Weekender? I've been thinking of purchasing one, but haven't seen a lot of good reviews about it. Any regrets on purchasing?

Ya know honestly, not a damn thing. But some mods here look good.

Installed DDI Front Seat Jackers on the driver’s side. They definitely change the seat positioning. You sit up enough where you feel like you’re actually in a truck. Can’t wait to see how it feels on a long trip.

They do close the gap a small amount, for me the big increase in comfort negates the minor inconvenience.

Without the seat jackers there was no support for my thighs, it felt like all my weight was on the bones in my butt and my heels, my leg muscles were always engaged. After an hour or so I would become achy and be shifting around in the seat. With the jackers (front only) I can drive several hours comfortably now. The parts are beautifully made as well.

 

Bug shield went on the hood and got the windows tinted out.

 

Been flip floppin between buying gunmetal and bronze wheels. Bronze do look pretty damn good. Nice truck.

 

I am installing a anytime back up camera (front camera) and I am almost done. The thing I am stuck on now is getting the illumination circuit connected to the anytime switch that I am installing where the BSM switch (was/is). I was thinking to tap into the wires already existing on the BSM switch wiring but I cannot tell which wires are the ones I need to tap into. The wires are grey, tan, green, pink and yellow. I need to know which one is the positive and which is negative for the illumination circuit. Does anyone know the answer or where I can find it? Thank you.

I ended up just tapping into the main fuse box and pulling wire into the cab. Actually realized after I did all that, that it would probably be better if I did it from the internal fuse box but I will change that another day. So it works great now.

I wasn’t the guy that diy the panel (just giving my thoughts on actual cost and time spent and pointing out the lack of huge profit at 150-175). I find it funny when people talk about how expensive something maybe and then suggest a selling price but when you break it down I can bet that most wouldn’t even do it for that themselves, it’s different only when your asked to do it and take a loss or work for free that it isn’t right. But isn’t 220 roughly what mountain hatch is? I know I got mine cheaper/equal to that. if so then 220 might be in the same ballpark but honestly probably not much of a difference to make people swarm to buy. Thats 45-70$ difference from the post I quoted at a suggested selling point (when in reality is a loss)
