"Toyota intends to bring electrification to its pickup truck lineup in the near future, including hybrid and BEV powertrains."

They are coming!!! Whether you like it or not.

Toyota bZ4X SUV production set for middle 2022 - most likely it will highly resemble the pics below and it looks very good.

I’m all for the EV revolution, but the fascination all these EV OEMs have with piano black kills me

    Mostly dust and dirt.
Prediction: within the next two decades the vast majority of pickup trucks will be, at most, mild hybrids.

Okay, deal. So $5 says you're wrong and that in 2041 the majority (not even vast!) of new pickup trucks sold in the US will be plug-in hybrids at the least. I'm good for it. In 2041 $5 will probably buy you a Werther's original from the dusty little dish at the pharmacy.

Most likely a lot sooner then that, $5.00 is probably the minimum gas tax the Government is going to use as the stick to get everybody "on board". Plus a host of other "fees" to operate a internal combustion engine.

Washington state has banned the sale of all new gas using vehicle as of 1/1/2030. California and Massachusetts as of 2035, we are on are way already.

Banning the sale of gas-powered vehicles likely doesn't mean you can no longer own them, you can probably still buy them out of state by that time. I'm all for the EV revolution. More torque, possible more simplicity, and the chance to solar charge in the middle of nowhere after a day of wheeling. Brings more meaning to "living off the grid" in my opinion. Faster acceleration too, and once the sports cars go electric I won't have to deal with their straight piped exhaust:devil:.

Speaking of EV's, anyone got an eye on those Rivian trucks and SUV's?

That'll be part of it, sure. And I don't think young people today will, as a collective, have the same nostalgia for internal combusion engines we might. I don't think most of them will be like, "this sucks!" I'm interested in seeing the equivalents of gas stations with rates for KWH competing on street corners, though. That'll be kinda fun.

In some place in Cali, it’s illegal to build new gas stations
