I wasn’t the guy that diy the panel (just giving my thoughts on actual cost and time spent and pointing out the lack of huge profit at 150-175). I find it funny when people talk about how expensive something maybe and then suggest a selling price but when you break it down I can bet that most wouldn’t even do it for that themselves, it’s different only when your asked to do it and take a loss or work for free that it isn’t right. But isn’t 220 roughly what mountain hatch is? I know I got mine cheaper/equal to that. if so then 220 might be in the same ballpark but honestly probably not much of a difference to make people swarm to buy. Thats 45-70$ difference from the post I quoted at a suggested selling point (when in reality is a loss)

 

It’s pretty awesome so far. I have about 5 fill ups on it so far. Haven’t used it for a shower yet. I use it for fishing, cleaning, hiking, it’s crazy how many things I do I like having water for. Heats up in the sun just fine. Not hot water by any means but not cold. I’ve spent a lot of time using a solar heated shower (30 gal barrel painted black) and this is right on par with that one. The hand pump works well, spray nozzle works well, everything works well. It’s potable water so you can drink from it also, big plus for me. I’m sure there are plenty of negative reviews like anything else, but after using it for a bit I wonder if those people were expecting it to work by itself. You have to keep it pressurized and if you want it warm it needs some time in the sun. It’s a small hand pump and does take a bit to get pressure in it. Especially once the water level starts to drop. I expected this going in though. Expectations count for a lot!

I love it, I’d buy it again. I have 2 rotopax 2 gallons that should be here today for refills. I like having a lot of water wherever I go.

Very cool. I still haven't purchased the frontrunner rack/rails, but they might be up next (once I finish a couple projects on the old 40 series). Not looking forward to drilling the holes, but it's definitely worth it ... it really transform the look of the truck. Nice work!

I bought the supplies for this but haven't had the time to install. Did you have to use any lube or anything to fit the hose over the existing drain?

 

Threw in a bed mat to keep things from sliding around.

 

Thanks! There is actually a decent amount of clearance to work with. (1.5 to 2 inches) Holes #1, 3, and 5 were in the perfect spot to avoid having to use the jack nuts. If you do decide to use all 5, you will have to drill bigger holes and use the supplied jack nuts. I wanted to avoid having to drill more holes than needed. I started off with a center punch, then a pilot hole, then the actual hole. Also used some black silicone around the holes to prevent leaks.

I took my time. The most challenging part was to make sure both vertical rails lined up straight. Once the rails are drilled out, the rest of the install was easy and bolts right on.

Mine came in the mail yesterday. I was a little unsure when I first looked at it but this picture looks pretty sweet - I'll put mine on this weekend when it warms up a bit!

 

You can also trim that more narrow and attach it on top of milk crates. It's a lot easier to pull out and cut a side out of each crate for storage. The 6 gallon crates are the best because they'll hold more items and seem to be heavy duty, plus they'll hold 6X1 gallons of whatever without them flying around the bed. I did it on my 1st gen and it was awesome for camping, actually made it about 2/3 the width of the bed and had room to put a mountain bike to the side.

 

That is great. I used two full sheets and cut them so they fit side by side and then notched them at the back so I could slide them out about 3ft. I used abs pipe as runners on top the 2x6's. I made it initially to haul 6 animals across country. The ability to pull out one side or the other was nice to be able to bring the cages to me instead of unloading and crawling into the truck.
