I've been running shell, or irving E87 which has 10% ethanol. My v6 tacoma runs really well on it. First time i saw those top their gasoline stickers....no pumps here have them.

Typically 87 but it depends on the gas station .some of the quality of gas at these gas stations is questionable.

Yeah I agree ethanol is not ideal for sure but they're engineering engines to run with it. I haven't put a drop of ethanol in my dirt bikes, it's clean 91 or nothing but obviously those aren't designed with ethanol in mind. All I'm saying is the Toyota owners manual specifically recommends "top tier" 87 octane for anyone who was curious. You really have to dig for that info in the book

I didn't know it was a thing either until I saw that in my owners manual. Just so happens the one gas station I always go to has it. I haven't seen many others since

    I use Shell 91 E0.

    E10 starts out as 84(87 & 89) and 88(91 & 93) blendstock.
Adding 'up to 10%' to the two blendstocks, achieves the various grades.
87 E10 and 91 E10 are going to have lower ethanol content.
The lower the blendstock octane, the greater the ethanol's blending octane.
Stand alone, ethanol has an octane of 100.

If ethanol is so bad how come race cars burn it?

Always ran 100LL av gas in my ktm's, or phillips B32, but they were modded, and jetted for it. Theses 3.5 v6's run just fine on E87

Because of the high octane level and the cooling effect(like any alcohol) it has on the pistons during combustion. Good stuff for racing. In street cars the biggest problem with it, is the inconsistent octane when mixed with gasoline. A friend of mine who runs E85 in his modded car has had problems with tuning due to the inconsistency. Also fuel mileage drops with ethanol by a large amount, like around 20%. So I question it's use in a daily driver. But as a performance car fuel, yes, if you can get consistent octane or move up to E98, then go for it

Since these vehicles are ours I believe it's our choice to use whatever gasoline, oil, tires, suspension, lights...whatever. We all have our own good and bad experiences. Same goes for various brands of vehicles...even thou our truck can run on ethanol blended gasoline I prefer to avoid it. If I'm in a pinch (like I was a few years ago when we were camping in northern Alberta we got into a hamlet that had a gas station that sold "diesel and gasoline"...generic) I will use whatever is available. Anything ethanol is harsh on seals, gaskets, rubber hoses and not to mention the water separation when not in use for a few days...why would I want a product like that in any of my internal combustion machines?, nope...again I don't chase the octane, I chase the quality...it is my vehicle, Toyota or any other company doesn't give a damn about anything. They like all other companies would be more than happy to sell you new parts or a whole new vehicle...

But how often have you looked for one? Most people just fill up and go without paying much attention to what's on the pump.

I run 93 from Costco probably 90% of the time. My truck has knock and smoothness issues on 87.

Actually 2 strokes can have the biggest problems running fuels with ethanol....fuel separates leaving water to be picked up at the bottom of the tank. 2 strokes do not tolerate water, especially snowmobiles.

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Sometimes when my buddies and I are planning a really cool road trip, I'll spend the evening sweeping the bed, clay-baring my doors, brushing the bugs off my headlights and then I fill her up with a full tank of 93 right before I put on my sunglasses and we hit the road with the windows down.

    Otherwise, fill up regular.

I know it doesn't matter for shit. It just feels good to treat yoself and go for the extra scoop.

Never see that near me anymore since the local Shell switched brands to Sunoco. I did look and we have the store chain Rutters selling it near me at all locations. I think it has ethonal in it too.
    Never tried it.

Yep it does have ethanol still, at least at the pumps I go to. I'm not saying it's the highest quality fuel possible but just pointing out that 93 octane isn't necessarily higher quality fuel than 87, just higher compression

Yeah I don't understand people who try to skimp by with low quality gas in their toys. I at least always get non ethanol 91 for my bikes. Agreed on the E87 for tacos. As designed

Just moved from Ohio to Utah. I understand there are multiple forces, but I went from 87 to 85 and mpg went from 18 to 14.
