I like Maveriks on road trips because I know they're a clean place to use the bathroom and generally seem to be well kept. Plus usually end up being on my way to wherever I'm going. I'm an intense creature of habit. I really don't care what station I stop at if I just need gas though.

Yeah I just buy my gas from wherever. Hart's is the closest station to the house so I usually get it there. 91 octane is some expensive shit nowadays tho.

I am a consultant for a firm that works for all of the major petroleum producers and retailers (we assess and conduct cleanup of sites where gasoline has been spilled or leaked from the underground tanks) and what Travlr says above is accurate. The gas you get at a Chevron comes from the same supplier as the gas from Maverick or anywhere else. The proprietary additives/detergents are added to the tankers after the fact (sometimes they are added to the underground tanks when the tankers deliver to the gas stations). Further, "bad gas" is a function of the age and, as stated, older tanks that are let run lower than normal which can introduce other accumulated "gunk". If you are really worried about "good" gas, then try to fill up at any station that get's a good steady flow of customers which will translate to "freshest" gas in the storage tanks. Note, many stations have multiple grades of gas, but they are actually usually mixed at the pump (so if you are pumping mid-grade, it usually is gas coming from the low grade mixed with the higher grade). Just noting this as the lower grade may be "fresh" but is being blended with possibly "older" high grade gas since less people buy the higher grades so the turnover is longer.

I never thought about them mixing the fuels before it comes out the handle. Makes a lot of sense tho and is something nice to know. Thanks for sharing.

The gas stations you really gonna look out for are the Cum & Go’s in Colorado (probably elsewhere too), I don’t think I could trust anything with a name like that.

Anyone know some cool off the map camping spots around Utah County, or not a far drive?
I'm cool with doing a good drive here and there, but not trying to drive hours every weekend for a little getaway.

Grew up in Weber County, but ended up buying a house down here last November so all my life I never went south for camping trips. Needless to say I'm just a bit clueless on where I can go to get off the beaten path and just do my own thing, not surrounded by a bunch of other folks.

Bonus would be somewhere that I could safely fire some rounds.

    A crap ton of mods.
Does anyone have a recommendation for who to go to in the Sandy or Salt Lake area for the "Exhaust reroute" to get the cross pipe up so it's not the lowest thing on the truck?
I like to have someone who's familiar with the mod so they know what they're doing going in instead of having to start from scratch.
    Thanks in advance!

Order the URD y-pipe and slap it in. Reroutes it plus eliminates the back 2 cats and I noticed a difference in power when driving.

I looked at that but it was $600 and I couldn't even tell if it raised the exhaust from the picture. My 2nd gen only has one cat and all the power I need so that looks like a better answer for the 3rd gens to free up exhaust flow. In the thread for the cross-over mod most shops were charging between $100 and $200 dollars and I was hoping for the cheaper option being a cheap guy :)

you're not going to get a cheaper option. It's more work than you'd think to make the bends and have the pipe line back up with the rest of the exhaust. If I were to do it, I'd probably end up charging you $200-$300.

That’s fair. Sometimes you can find them used. I ended up getting mine for $200 and my stock y-pipe from a guy that was trading his 4runner in. But after driving it, I’d have paid sticker for it.
