Have you reset the learned values for the ECU & TCU?

Soon you will be able to literally push a button to switch between tunes, or at least some parts of tunes.

I'm not sure, do tell please?

I'm basically exactly where I was when Vic unplugged the tuner plus about 150 miles or so. I haven't done anything specific beyond driving it.

Also how will we be able to switch between tunes? I can think of a lot of times I'd like to have the tune on and other times I'd like to have it off. Especially since I'm about to put this stupid insurance tattle tale in my OBD for 90 days.

Resetting the LV and TCU is something that could only be done with Toyota techstream software until the latest VFTuner release a few days ago, if I'm not mistaken. I would give some thought to doing that, my odd shifting, excessive gear holding, etc went away after I did so.

I'm not part of the testing for the unreleased version of VFTuner, but it sounds like the ECT switch and possibly another switch/combination will allow on the fly changing of tunes or maps/tables. Going to have to find out more from someone in the know or wait for the public release of the software.

Might be a dumb question, but do any of these tune programs work on iOS or just Windows?

If I were you, I would put the stock intake back. Clean the mess it left in you throttle body and give it another try.
There is no way the stock truck kept up with you.
Not bragging, but even 4.0 is able to keep up with Raptor, Tesla and Civics

Mess it left? It's an S&B that was installed 2 weeks ago, and uses a dry paper filter.

Also not sure how you are telling me that a stock truck didn't keep up with me when I literally did 6 runs 20-80 mph and the results were exactly dead even every time.

It's laughable to think that a tuned (non turbo) tacoma could remotely hang with a Raptor. They are low 5 second 0-60 and flat 14 quarter mile. Massively different than even a tuned NA taco. I'm not even going to comment much on the Tesla remark, when those cars can easily outrun my 600+ hp AMG up until well north of 100 mph

Ok, I was not aware of the dry paper.
You can get a logging going to get data on MAF, ignition timing, fuel and we can compare to stock intake.

Jumped on the bandwagon. Been running OVTune 2.0 since August last year (2020). Thought I would rock KDMax 6.0 this season to compare the difference. Just loaded the tune up last night, but have not put any miles on it yet. @PapaRee was super quick to respond and provide tune packs. Thats a lot better turn around than the OVTune team. On my most recent week long trip to Moab, I stopped at the CAT scale in Grand Junction. My fat ass weighed 6520 pounds fully loaded. Front bumper, dual battery, big brake kit on the front, sliders, front and rear roof rack with gear on top, SnugTop with sleeping platform and gear underneath in a custom drawer system. Due to all the weight, I am starting with the standard throttle tune. If its too touchy, I will downgrade to LT and possibly SLT. I'll update this thread when I have some mileage on this new tune. From all the positive reviews here from those running OVTune 2 that switched to KDMax 6, I can't wait to see how the truck drives!

An important fact that goes overlooked is most (if not all) of us offering installation services for K&D were also doing our own tuning and workign with the TW community to learn more. Those were all from OVTune 2.0 efforts. It's also clear in my own offerings that everyone I upgrade from a solid prior OVT2.0 file is even happier with their KDMAX 6.0 upgrade. K&D and all the folks installing and collecting feedback are just going keep driving the great service and best possible tune as time continues to March on. Enjoy your drives!

edit: dang that is a bit of a porky truck lol

My buddy's 3rg gen Taco was at 7300 lbs!! He has full armor/skids. I am still waiting on @Apogee Offroad's rear dual swing out bumper (with BSM support). I might do RCI Aluminum skids, but either way, mine will only get heavier as well.

Maybe one of these days we’ll find out just how much weight these trucks will take. If you hear of anything breaking pls let us know the weight it broke at :D

He does some serious wheeling (trails rated 6+) and has had this setup for 4+ years. Nothing has broken yet. These Tacomas are so overbuilt out the gate, they make great overlanding vehicles. Other than the anemic power issues. My other buddy did it right and just went with the V8 LR4 :crapstorm:
The LR4 was also around 7300 lbs but has a higher GVWR...

Sounds good. I have OBD Fusion but just haven't really logged with it yet to see how that all works.

Basically, I'm going to go out with my friend in his '21 OR again, but this time he has the same tune as me. In theory, if my tires were the difference, he should now inch ahead of me. After that I'll throw on the performance version when I get a fresh tank of gas, and will repeat.

Hahaha! Got that surfer lingo stereotype covered. I don't think a single person in Alaska uses "bro" unironically.

Glad to see some happy drivers though!

Lined up to get the WifeTip version installed. If it can keep everything from 2-6 pretty much the way it is and solve the kick from a stop I'll be a super happy camper.

I do have another question though. I did a few full throttle pulls the other night and noticed that 2nd runs well past the redline on the gauge. I'm assuming that factory redline is conservative but what is the actual target shift point for 2nd under full throttle?
