Assuming us original handheld users need to revert to stock tune, and then purchase vF software stuff?

To unlock the handheld yes. We would give discounts for folks converting from HH to VF Tuner.

Also, 4.0L Tacoma is supported officially now.
Anyone interested in getting setup and using our software, just let us know. We will be providing tuning and calibration info / PDFs as well as assistance here / our forum / etc.

Pre 2009 4.0L and 2.7L development is being worked on

I would agree, that would be helpful (the first post update).

I'll order up a copy of VF momentarily. Looking forward to seeing what you've got going on!

    Mat,

I'm not seeing 8966304A5100 as supported per the list (See below). By chance is there a "typo" on the 896630445100 file name?

    Thanks!

If you plan to use our software be sure to stay up to date, as continually publish new IDs. A bunch more going into that folder on the next update.

Also our forum has some tuning resources and info, which we will be posting more as well.

VF Tuner update released today fixes a few things on the Tacoma 4.0L.

We are investigating offering the same map switching (live map switching) Like the tundra, only 2 way map switching due to lack of auxiliary buttons. ( standard and S Mode Map switch)

    Hi guys, gals.

We are hoping we could get a thread started on our forum. Let us know what kind of stuff you want in the software, custom features, etc. So that we can get working on some cool stuff for the 4.0L soon

I've gone through it, yes. Is there something specific you'd like to know/see?

    Does it function well?
Is it a complete operational product?
How does it compare to the HP product?
I have the original simple Tuning handheld, will this new vF software provide any added functionality over what I currently have that is worth the money spent?

I am currently using Hptuners but for myself a couple of key features would be deleting (reducing) rev hang on the manual trans and a way to log a couple of external inputs (afr).

With your expanded tables and maybe some tuning parameters being accessible that aren't with Hptuners there would be a good reason to make the switch.

Im not really sure what parameters HP has, but we are happy to setup features you guys may want or include tables needed.

I know some AlphaN tables and load multipliers we have nobody else has.

Well shit been awhile looks like Matt even got banned. Anyone have anything to say about the hptuners vs the ovtune flash kit I’ve had for over 3 years and almost 90k miles? No complaints just wondering if anyone made a switch and like it more. Could be for something new too I don’t know about.

    A bump here...
VF Tuner didn't really seem too good to be true, but it definitely felt like a sham to me. My biggest problem was lack of support from OVTune and their "zendesk" support, rendering my VF Tuner/purchase completely useless. Bought the VF Tuner in October 2021 for my 2010 Tacoma (Dbl-cab 1GR, MT). Found out my ECU was not supported. There's no good way to check VF Tuner's specific list of supported ECUs without reading your ECU ID first, which I did using my VF Tuner (post purchase remorse). The VF Tuner website and forums/posts ect. plainly state that all 4.0L (1GR-FE) models are supported, so my ECU should be supported. Short story is that they aren't trustworthy, and perpetually broke promises to add my ECU calibration file to their next version release, which never happened. This goes as far as the owner/company saying they bought my "special" ECU and were preparing the calibration file, or that this was already completed and I should now see my file, but nothing actually ever happened. I've asked for a refund a couple times but was instead promised my issue was fixed (and this is a lie).

I think I'm helping any potential customer that sees this by saying don't trust VF Tuner. Specifically, they can't do customer support. I think the company is just one guy who previously tuned vehicles, plus some volunteer forum/tech admins.

Anyone interested in verifying my info, here's my ECU ID and a screen shot from VF Tuner's
    ECU ID: 30459000
    ECU part #: 4E60
Anyone can download the software and see this file is not included for my vehicle. I have all the emails with VF Tuner (OVTune support). Honestly, a year later, I just laugh and say F'them.
