That dirt could even just be accumulating/sticking from the natural oils on your hands.

Took the X1 for an unexpected wind test Friday. Planned a little romanzzz date near where I live and had to change locations. The wind was blowing like CRAZY. Tent violently flapping and the lid bouncing up and down on the struts LOL. Obv, I would never camp in that kind of wind , but wanted to just see what it was like. The tent fabric held up. At times I swore it was just gonna rip off. Ended up moving and finding a place in between two rocks.

First time using the tent before my long Baja trip and I learned a lot about it.
Being able to have one of the rear panels off is awesome. I used one as a night stand/drink table holder and the other open to get in and out the camper.
I would include a zipper on the rear tent flap, in the wind its a little too open.
Doing a trip first weekend of may to do some more testing before Baja.

does it have a strap that goes underneath? I have a aerobed and the sheet had a strap that would wrap underneath so it would stay on. could likely add that to keep it on. some elastic one.

no, just a chord that goes around the edge of the part that goes under that you can tighten on with a little toggle thingy.

I was firmly in the camp of never buying a RTT due to cost and how foolish people with Tepui's look driving around town all the time with big blocky tents on the roof.

But too many nights getting into camp late in freezing temps and wind had me looking for shelter options that are quick to set up and give me a place to hang out sheltered from the wind. When you look at the options, you start to see the value in wedge campers. A standard truck topper is ok but offers limited height and costs $2000-3500. A wedge RTT can cost $3000-4500. Get both and you can easily be $5-8k. With the Super pacific you get both of those integrated in a way that makes it exponentially more useful. I probably would have never bought a standard topper or RTT on its own, but together the value is there for me.

Agreed, I was originally planning on a RLD designs shell with a wedge rtt on top. With a little thinking, SP was a no brainer for almost the same amount of money.

I do love the camper. I am just blown away at the prices the community supports via 'constantly paying them'. At $5k, it'd be a sure thing for me. At "more than 50% of the cost of my truck, which came with the canopy, there is no way."

You'd be surprised at how much $ is tied up into the materials. If I had to throw a wild guess, there is EASILY 3k worth of material on this camper.
My friend and coworker made a DIY style GFC camper and has 3k in material.... Mostly steel and generic extrusions etc. The SP I bet is closer to 4K+ worth of material especially because of all the aluminum. Quality door locks, machined hinges, xped mattress, etc.
I bet all manufacturers are suffering right now with raw material cost increase as well. Costs have shot up.
It's just not a cheap product. Add operation costs etc and a margin you get to 9-10k.

I got in early, and I think paid 7k, which is a STEAL. I dont think I could throw down 10k cash for a wedge though. Not saying its not worth that, just that I would rather stick to my $800 camper shell at that point. This is a luxury for me.
If I ever sell my truck, I'd have to part out the camper seperate. Dont think anyone would buy my first gen for 20-21k lol

I never buy anything thinking about re-selling it. Cars nor wives - i get them only thinking now i have them.

I struggle sometimes because I cannot quantify the true value of these types of things.

if I sell my truck's Leer for, I dunno $1500 and buy a camper like this for + $8500...what is the true value of the price difference? Mostly it's being able to stand up and get dressed; and storage solutions I'm sure. But $8500. That's 2 and a half years worth of fuel at 20,000 miles per year.

I 'want' this camper. I suppose I struggle with, like losing weight, moving from 'want to' to 'willing to'.

    Cheers all!
