yeah I suspect he has a lot going on and is totally unwilling to admit it to even himself. I can deal with some shit but I don't need a holier than thou attitude where he gets to pretend like he has it all together and I'm a total fuckup.

I've been warned many times about it but have always told myself it would be fine. I'm starting to see why so many people with experience tried to warn me :)

ditto, well until I met my wife lol. But before that I decided I was done with roommates and got a little studio to myself for a few years. So much nicer.

Place I lived at before, one of the guys was really cool but the other was a roommate from hell. The kind that's super outgoing/friendly on the outside but couldn't/wouldn't do anything around the house, so of course when you'd bring it up with him he'd act like a victim. Like 'how dare you attack me, I'm so nice and friendly' and make you feel like the asshole for bringing it up.

Got so sick of it after 3 years I moved as soon as I got the job I'm at now. And of course right after I did that, he finally moved out too

I don't claim to be the best roommate either, in that I was always the type to keep to myself (still am, really). I don't house well with people that need to make conversation every second of the day lol.

A lot of people around here have guest houses on their property that they rent out, I feel like that would be more ideal...each person has their own space and you don't really have to "live" together.

Although I could still see that becoming a nightmare. In CA the renter's laws are designed to protect the renters and not the owners, which in some cases is a good thing, but in others can make it a royal pain in the ass if you end up with a tenant from hell.

The only time roommates are worth it is when you've got a mother in law suite/shack in the back yard to rent out.. roommate's in the house stops working after college. And only works for college cause everyone is broke.

I agree with implementing an asshole tax each month until he moves out on his own. Just blame it on property taxes going up.. or cost of utilities increasing

Or man up and get on that stripper pole and tell him he's a cunt to his face:luvya:

That’s what my friends decided about they’re rental.

So they’re selling it and are taking the money about building a shop in their empty lot next door.

I’m looking forward to Heated shop to fix broke shit in the winter.

Yeah the house we rent has a converted garage -> guest house in the backyard, there's a girl that lives there who's been there since before we moved in. She's really cool, keeps to herself and we never have issues with each other.

Except the other day, I just put our daughter down to sleep after a rough night, and our neighbor in the back house pulled her car up and for some reason honked the horn a few times. I may have overreacted at her a little lol. Felt like a dick and apologized the next day.

Made me wonder how in the hell so many families out here deal with having small kids/babies in shared walls/apartment settings...man that would be awful.

CO is like that... I have to give him 91 days written notice which will make for an awkward time I'm sure.

91 days??? Jesus. Surely there's some caveats to that like if the person isn't paying rent or tearing the place up or something. Hopefully.

I'm not sure what the exact CA laws are, I just know they suck for landlords. But when the majority of the populace here rents rather than owns, that's what happens I guess.
