New running boards. Look like sliders

So my truck came with the 5" nerf bars from the factory. I didn't want them but after seeing how they acted more as a protection from rock chips and road debris flying up hitting my paint I kept them on but never liked the look. Just looked out dated. Today my replacement came in. They look like sliders that I liked but are just steps. They are much more HD than the factory nerf bars though. Ok with me as I would never need the function of a slider. These have a more updated look and will still give me protection from road debris kicking up along the body.

How’s it getting in and out the truck . Do you find them to get in the way . They look good what brand are these ?

 

they dont seem to be in any difference in getting in and out compared to the 5" tube steps. They are definitely a more solid feeling. if I put a foot on the factory ones you can see them flex. these are very rigid and dont move.

I like the look of these. I don't need the function of a slider, but with short family members (3yr old and 5'4" wife) I will need something once I apply a lift to mine.

How do they do when wet? Do your feet slide around any?

I am not sure. I just put them on today. You can flip the top plate so the holes go upward for more grip stepping on them. next time I have it in the rain i will see if its slippery. Although I did coat mine for protection so mine might be a little slicker as i dont really ever use them as a step. I always stepped over my nerf bars and never used them for the function of a step.

 

Wow those look shockingly similar to the CaliRaised sliders, even down to the flipable top plate.

 

I think this is what I've been looking for.

How's the quality? Might be a good budget friendly alternative to the Cali Raised. Wish they had a powder coat option.

 

quality seems good. they are nice and heavy and solid feeling. There are no chips in the finish on them anywhere and all the brackets are finished the same as the steps to help with keeping them from rusting over time.

 

I think they have a place with mall cruisers but stay away from rocks and tree stumps!

I got to admit they do look like the real Caliraised item at a glance (fine for little kids to climb into the back seat).

 

your point. Not everyone who owns a truck is a hardcore offroader. I probably will never take mine off-road as I am not into that. But then again I guess everyone on TW is rock crawling 24/7 even backing out of their driveway cause they are all badass huh

 

Thanks so much for the review.. I have these same ones on my wish list on the 'zon right now. i am in the same boat, the factory nerf bars are starting to look their age, and i like the look of these. I would probably flip the top plate, and maybe give them a coat of bed liner for some texture.

 

I like them so far. When I was walking to my truck yesterday from the side profile you can't even see them so they blend in nicely and don't stand out. Also for me at least they don't get in the way of getting in and out. Hopefully, they have a good lifespan. they are coated very well and even the brackets are fully coated so I hope there is little to no rust that shows up on them for a long time

 

You convinced me. Just ordered a set. I was in the same boat, didn't really like the look on any of the steps on the market and didn't want to pay the price for sliders (nor do I need real sliders). Thanks for posting about these!

 

finally tried them wet. pulled in the garage after driving in the rain. I put my foot on them and moved it around. It didnt feel slippery at all and thats even with me having coated the bars as well for protection.

 

Looks great! Way better than the standard ones.

 

Ya way better looking than stock and they are still tight/hugging the rocker panel. Not hanging down really low like most steps. Nice choice
