Looking for some suggestions for some dispersed overlanding/camping in Tahoe National Forest around this time of year. I want to experience snow camping while we still have snow here in California. I am planning to camp in my RTT. I was looking into Bowman Lake or Sawmill Lake, but according to the Tahoe NF website the road to Bowman Lake is closed for the season. So I am looking for alternative spots. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not many places are open right now. Most of the forestry managed roads are closed. They usually have the gates closed and locked where the pavement ends. Cal-trans has just started clearing some of the higher elevation highways. The forest roads will open next if they are safe (as determined by them) to use.

If open, the road by Cicso Grove to Fordyce Lake leads to a nice area. Similar to Bowman Lake area, but maybe a little higher elevation.
