V6 orginal plugs after 80k

Just changed the plugs on this truck. it has never been done before. Here is what they looked like.

Yea i was a little disappointed that they never have been changed before, but they where still half and half. the NGK is the top one. I put 6 Denso in from the dealer.

 

what was the gaps on the used plugs?

How's the drive now that you've changed em? I have 41k on my truck and thinking about changing mine out. Think there it would make a difference or affect anything if I used aftermarket or something other than dealer spark plugs?

Well they are not black no signs of oil and there are carbon deposits which are normal what are u talking about.

 

I just changed my plugs @ 75000 miles. Plugs looked good. Denso gaps were 0.053-0.055; NGK gaps were 0.054-0.060. I was still getting 18mpg (normal driving) or 21mpg trying to get good mileage.

My spark plug gap tool I bought at Advance Auto for $2-$3 (PR tool) is wrong. I checked with my caliper and my micrometer-0.035" on the tool is really 0.040", 0.040 on tool is really 0.0475".

 

I just picked up 6 Densos for my Taco. 122K on originals. I'll post pics of the ugly ones.

 

how long has it been since the caliper and mic were calibrated?

I bought my truck used about 6 months ago with 62k on it. The 3 plugs on the passenger side were NGK's and the 3 driver side were the factory Denso's. The picture is of the factory ones. The NGK's weren't as bad but why would someone only change 3 of the plugs?

 

toyota puts ngk on passenger side and denso on driver side from the factory. your plugs have likely never been changed.

 

According to a gunsmith friend of mine (three months ago) and my gauges, they are both right on . Just curious, you think that both my rcbs dial caliper ($60) and my lyman micrometer ($45) would both be wrong? and a $3 spark plug gap tool would be right?

 

$3 tool every time for accuaracy; especially the tapered gapper. You know the idiot that would buy one of those really puts in the extra time when gapping his plugs.

This thread is making me want to go pull mine at 45k and see.
