Usually I just run in so that it condenses enough water to 'rinse' the coil and any debris down the drain. Typically it goes away within the first week of running the AC each year. Same happens with home AC systems. This works as long as you don't have extensive biological growth on the coil.

It deals with the HVAC in your house, but the fixes all still apply to vehicles.

I know. Just saying what most folks do unless it is real bad and fails to go away in about a week. Past that, typically requires intervention. I've been dealing with HVAC design and installation for a few decades. We usually deal with it using good filtration and local UV lights on both sides of a wet coil. That is beyond a simple direct expansion coil for a home or car.

I plan to actually. Picked up some tubing and a hose clamp last night.

So I pulled the blower and the cabin air filter. The coils weren't readily visible. But the "ducting" that the fan blows into is easy to access with the blower out of the way. Snuck the hose through the ducting and lit er rip. Smells nice in there now.

I wish someone had an exploded view of the air box. Maybe the vent tube is the best way to access the coils. Maybe @splitbolt @Saeros or @Jeff Lange can snag an exploded view?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I turned my A/C on April 2010; it’s still on. Changing the cabin filter is a good idea

    Can do tomorrow.
Also Toyota in Canada now offers a AC foaming cleaning service. 00289-ACRKT is the part number for the kit. I hear it makes a good bit of difference.

I used the lil can of lubeguard. Seemed to work good. The smell is kind of minty.

And to add, the AC Kit that I spoke of earlier, you attach to the drain tube thats outside the truck. We also have a kit by BG that basically does the same thing, but they have you pull that tube through into the interior, and shove a long straw up through that hose and spray. Basically fills up the ducts and coats the evaporator in a foam, then you let it drain for a while.

Nice! Looks like I was able to hit the coils by going through the curved circular portion on the output of the blower motor.

    Thanks for this!

Is the wires on the fan motor long enough to leave hooked up and lay the motor on the floor?? Probably not.

Honestly, probably. The hard part is getting those stupid plastic wire retainers off. Other than that you could probably leave it connected. But it's super easy to unplug.

Did you leave the retainers off when you put the motor back in?

It is. The A/C evaporator is in the box this drain tube drains out of.

I screwed the motor back in, plugged in the switch, then clipped the two retainers in. I also unplugged the resistor, which is super simple as well.
