    Hey Phil!

I know I haven’t said much since the Choco trip, I started a new job at the end of Feb and have been gone Mon-Fri every week since.

Hopefully I can get back on some up coming trips once my chores get finished here at the house that take up my entire weekend.

Was my last ride also. I'll be back in Auburn Tues-Thursday morning - saw you needed a bumper closer to Jasper? I can store it in Talladega Springs & be available any day of week for pickup.

I'm grabbing a bumper from Skip for Caleb this weekend at the GA Traverse camping trip. He's gonna meet me in Clanton once we figure out a time.

COLD FRONT ARRIVES EARLY TOMORROW: Today will be another dry, pleasant day for Alabama… look for a partly sunny sky with a high in the 74-78 degree range this afternoon. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of a sharp cold front which will pass through the state mostly in dry fashion during the early morning hours tomorrow. A few sprinkles are possible over the northern third of the state, and measurable rain isn’t expected.

Tomorrow will be sunny but much cooler following the frontal passage; the high will be in the mid to upper 50s for much of North Alabama with a northwest wind of 15-25 mph making it feel cooler. The wind dies down tomorrow night, and with a clear sky we project low temperatures between 33 and 40 degrees for most of North/Central Alabama early Thursday morning. Frost is likely, and a few of the normally colder spots could briefly touch the freezing mark. Then, during the day Thursday we expect a high in the mid 60s with a good supply of sunshine.

Friday will be another dry day… with a mix of sun and clouds temperatures reach the mid to upper 60s by afternoon. Clouds will increase Friday night, and some rain is possible after midnight.

STORMY SATURDAY: A dynamic weather system will bring widespread rain and thunderstorms to Alabama Saturday. SPC has defined a risk of severe thunderstorms for about the southern half of the state, generally south of U.S. 80 (Demopolis to Selma to Montgomery to Opelika).

Heavier storms over South Alabama Saturday could produce strong winds, and there is some potential for a brief tornado or two. All of the state will see a good soaking, with rain amounts of 1-2 inches likely. Some isolated flooding issues could develop during the day; Saturday’s high will be in the low to mid 70s.

But, the weekend won’t be a total wash-out. Sunshine returns Sunday with a high in the mid 70s.

NEXT WEEK: The weather will be warm and dry Monday and Tuesday with highs at or just over 80 degrees. The next weather system brings a chance of rain and storms back to the state late Wednesday or Thursday… too early to know if severe storms will be an issue. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

RACE WEEKEND: It will be a challenge to get in the races Saturday at Talladega; rain and thunderstorms are likely much of the day with a high in the 70s. But, Sunday will be a delightful day for the running of the Geico 500… the sky will be sunny with a high between 73 and 77 degrees.

ON THIS DATE IN 1920: Tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama killed 219 persons. Six tornadoes of F4 intensity were reported. Aberdeen, Mississippi was hard hit by an F4 tornado that killed 22 people. This same tornado killed 20 in Marion County, Alabama. Nine people in one family died in Winston County, Alabama.

ON THIS DATE IN 2004: A strong F3 tornado moved across the town of Utica, near LaSalle-Peru in north-central Illinois. This tornado destroyed several homes, a machinery building, and a tavern. The roof of the tavern collapsed, killing eight people inside; many of these people had come into town from nearby mobile homes, seeking sturdier shelter.

Had several trucks on Saturday and this was another sharp Super White 2017 SR5 that was in for the TSB Upgrade and KDMax 6.0 Performance Tune.

The client complained of lack of power/torque and horrid highway shifting. All these issues and more were resolved with the KDMax tune. The client was thrilled with the results.

Love seeing all you guys and your trucks.. Thanks for coming out!!

COLD FRONT PASSING THROUGH: A sharp cold front is passing through Alabama early this morning. We note a few sprinkles over the Tennessee Valley, but for most places there will be no rain. The big story is the colder air; the day ahead will be windy and very cool with a high only in the 55-60 degree range. A brisk northwest wind of 12-25 mph will make it feel colder despite sunshine in full supply. The wind will die down tonight, and with a clear sky temperatures will drop quickly, and most communities will wind up somewhere between 33 and 40 degrees early tomorrow morning.

Frost is likely in many areas over the northern half of the state, and a few of the traditionally colder spots (places like Valley Head and Black Creek) could briefly touch the freezing mark. Classic case of “blackberry winter” as some call it. Then, during the day tomorrow, the sky will be sunny with a high in the mid 60s.

The weather stays dry during the day Friday… with a partly sunny sky the afternoon high will be somewhere between 65 and 70 degrees. Clouds thicken Friday night.

STORMY SATURDAY: Rain and storms are likely in the general window from midnight Friday night through 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Understand there will be breaks in the rain, but this will be a statewide soaking with amounts of 1 to 2 inches likely. In fact, some flooding issues could develop in spots.

Also, SPC has expanded the severe weather risk Saturday to include areas along and south of I-20 (Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston, and points south).

Still some uncertainties on how the day plays out, but there is evidence there could be two rounds of rain and storms. One during the early morning hours, which would feature some risk of a tornado or two, followed by more storms in the afternoon with the main threat at that time coming from hail and strong winds. Once we get within 60 hours of the event (that will be tonight) we get within range of the convection allowing models, and will have a much better idea of the timing and magnitude of the threat.

Dry air returns Saturday night, and Sunday will be a mostly sunny day with a high in the mid 70s.

NEXT WEEK: Our weather will be warm and dry Monday and Tuesday… the high Monday will be close to 80, and in the low to mid 80s Tuesday. A rather dynamic weather system will bring showers and storms in here Wednesday and Wednesday night; there could be some risk of severe thunderstorms involved, but too early to know for sure. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

RACE WEEKEND: At Talladega, occasional rain and a few strong thunderstorms are likely Saturday, making it a challenge to get the races in. But, Sunday will be a beautiful day for the Geico 500 with a sunny sky along with a high in the mid 70s.

ON THIS DATE IN 1967: Severe thunderstorms spawned 48 tornadoes in the Upper Midwest. Hardest hit was northern Illinois where sixteen tornadoes touched down during the afternoon and evening hours causing fifty million dollars damage. On that Friday afternoon, tornadoes struck Belvidere IL and the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn, killing 58 persons.
