I picked up the REI single version. Was going to get the BC Stoic one as it was the cheapest but ended up just using my dividend on the REI one.

Heard awesome things about that one. I was going to go that route but had found the exped at 35% off so I didn’t want to pass it up. I use the exped synmat when backpacking and love that thing too so was happy staying in brand

I have an Amazon special sleeping mat that has been great.

it cracks me up when I set it up in the T4 and then it's like...well, what do I do with the rest of the tent?

I'd just as soon use a ground tent, unless there is rain.

I’m sure I’ll own a RTT at some point in time. Life only permitting 2-3 max camping trips yearly these days, I just can’t bring myself to justify the cost.

One of my big factors going back to Gazelle was that their overland editions now come with actual footprint tarps. I had a hard time finding the right tarp size for the T3 I had before because it didn't come with a footprint.
Just get more dogs man! Or keep your bike in your tent at night

How do the Gazelles hold up without a tarp or footprint? Must have in all conditions or wet?

Mine is the regular T4 (sans footprint) and this trip will be it’s maiden voyage.

x2 on the question. I haven't used a tarp with mine yet, but only had some condensation on one night when we were on the NC trip.

general condensation wise you’ll be fine. Rain wise you should be fine - the floor is really waterproof. However - when it gets dirty and muddy, you have to take the whole thing off via the Velcro and clean. When you re-attach, it will be hard to get just right and watertight. Camping over rocks and the like without a protective layer underneath can lead to small holes. Happened to me and I will give Gazelle credit as they sent me a new base under warranty.

footprint isn’t a necessity but I really like it as it makes my cleanup and protection for the tent super fast and easy.

nice thing is you can order the footprints separately on their site now.

I've only camped on grass so far, so thankfully no issues with tearing/small holes. Does the footprint help with condensation at all, or the regular floor about the same? I like the quality of the regular floor a lot. I haven't used it enough times to feel like I need to clean it yet.

well no biking this weekend for me. just dropped the bike off at the shop to have them bleed the brakes since I basically lost all rear brake riding yesterday.

and with the rear tire having now 3 punctures I'm having them put a new one on. sadly they didn't have one of the tires I'd most prefer, but they highly recommended the new Specialized Butcher. cheaper than the maxxis options they had in stock...so going with it for now. I'll order another vittoria when they are back available online..

Went ahead and ordered their footprint :notsure:

Tarps are in short supply in my area post tornado, and I’d rather have the sizing correct.

The footprint is the same material as the floor to my knowledge, just separate and sized to be the footprint. I haven’t had any condensation with it but I haven’t been out at the right times of year to truly test that!

That was my problem - could never find the correct sizing. Hope you enjoy the footprint!
