No offense but that is a really high price for a 4x2... I paid $34,900 (before tax) for my 2021 SR5 4x4 DBSB (includes $760 for 600 tech package and blackout emblems), a similarly built 4x2 should be ~3000 less than that, around $31,900. 37,500 is really high after tax, whats ur sales tax? Is there a lot of addons with it?

I got my local dealer to agree on this for $40,688 before tax. They don't have dealer fees and I have a 17' to trade in so taxes shouldn't be much. Is this a good deal or can I do better?Screenshot_20210420-151208__01.jpg

Given you have a trade in, its hard to say. Because they could be giving you less on trade in, and showing you bigger discount on the new one.

If 40K for a 45K truck, no trade in. Great deal.

This is before mentioning trade in. Carvana offered my 17 $34,600 and toyotas website said the same so I'm hoping to take it to several dealers and have them appraise it to see what they offer and compete with eachother. My 17 has no add-ons and this '21 is basically fully loaded.

    4% off =average good deal
    6%=good
    8%=very good
    10%=excellent
The percentages off above can be used as a ballpark but they seem to be fluctuating a lot lately(and by region). In normal times they would be much higher and consistent. Might also be worth adding the Carvana quote to this template eventually. With Carvana offering to buy at retail/private party prices that throws a wrench into the trade-in value depending upon your region. In South Carolina we have the optimal situation because we have a $500 cap on car sales tax. In most places this is not the case.

Accurate Gauge of Tacoma Price Info:
    1. Year, trim, color, transmission, bed
    2. MSRP(before dealer add ons)
    3. Options
    4. Cost of dealer add ons- (tint, floor mats, nitrogen, etc)
    5. Price before Tax Title License (TTL) including incentive/rebate
    6. Discount 1-(#5/#2)*100=% off MSRP)
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash)
    8. Price Out The Door (OTD)
    9. Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim)
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value
    11. Trade allowance(amount given for trade)
    12. Date purchased
    13. State purchased

I payed $34,300 cash for my new TRD OR two years ago. It’s crazy how much more they’re going for now. Not sure I’d pick a Tacoma at some of these prices TBH.

I got a written quote from one dealership, then emailed other dealerships saying I would buy from anyone who could beat that price. It was the end of the month and the fiscal quarter. The sale took under an hour, so they were happy to do a quick deal. This was at Cedar Park Toyota, which was new at the time, so they were trying to move units fast.

I got lucky, for sure. I think most quotes at the time were in the $35k to $37k range. I still think paying over $40k, even today, is a tough one. These trucks are great, but they aren’t perfect. Other options start looking more appealing at that point.

Congrats on your new Truck! If you calculate your 2.49% Interest for 5yrs your Total cost is at $58,393.57. The faster you pay off your loan the more you can shave off the $3,283.60 interest charge and get that tittle!

True but I'm using the truck for work and will write the interest off to make up for the cost. Also I'm OCD about numbers being round and will pay even $900 payments instead of $888 which should shave a few off after 5 years. Thanks for the tip though

You may want to check with your accountant, but unless your business owns the truck I do not believe that you can write off the interest, but you can take the standard mileage charge, or log all of your gas and maintenance expenses.
