Just curious if anyone running 2.0 premium switched over to regular and if you were happy with the results still??

    Thanks

I ran many tanks of 87 on the Prem tune. It was very mellow. After a while, I started missing the throttle response and switched back to 92. At the time, the cost difference was almost completely covered by the MPG bump.

The price surge lately should not have affected that since the $0.30 difference is still there between grades.

Overall I've been happy with the tune and don't mind spending the extra on 93 even though its gone up in price.
I just wasn't sure if 87 would get the same results for the most part, it sounds like the power loss is noticeable.

I also had my check engine light come on for the second time on (4-19) but thankfully cleared out on its own. Maybe not driving the truck hard enough with the 93 tune?? idk

You have any experience with the CEL coming on randomly then clearing after driving the truck hard??

On 2.0, it was the first time that I noticed a significant difference between octanes. On Stock and two different TSBs, the only differences was that I lost MPGs and the engine was just a touch more smooth. On the old 1.05 Tunes, MPGs were the same and I only noticed a bit less power going back to 87. I didn't notice much while on 92.

The 2.0 Tunes definitely make good use of the higher octane. That said, give it a shot. Trying different octanes and tunes is part of the fun.

I have no idea about the CEL. I would not think that it is fuel grade related and have driven mine hard on both octanes. You can use vF or TechStream to read the DTCs. Self-clearing CELs will usually store in the memory.

I don't have vf tuner to try out other tunes etc. too bad for me... Maybe I should look into getting it.

I also probably wouldn't like going to 87 from the sounds of it. Thanks again.

    You're welcome!

If you were tuned by someone else, give a tank of 87 or mid grade a shot first.

If you decide to get a vF License, lemme know if I can help you in any way.

Yes, big difference between 87 and 91.

I’m custom tuned, but I can tell immediately which is which. I was on 91 but couldn’t afford gas in California thanks to biden, so switched to the 87 and it feels slow and not nearly as crisp.

Ive also switched with I had just ovtune and same thing
