Wouldn't surprise me; Thompson Toyota has a seemingly endless supply of Camrys and Corollas that they loan out, and they put them on the lot as CPO after like 10K miles...

 

Then they just do that as a courtesy. They get money from Toyota to do so. The cars I’m talking about Toyota gives the dealers then after a couple years takes them back and sends them to auction.

My understanding also. Dealer worded it as "in certain areas". If they balk I'll point out that they coated the area so they must have done that for a reason

 

My left license plate lamp burned out and as you can see I’ve gained access to the bulb, but I cannot get it out...

 

On another note, this light has been giving me trouble for months; It would go out intermittently, and only a swift kick to the rear bumper was required to make it turn back on. It functioning perfectly for the last several weeks, then went out again recently, and while percussive maintenance made it come on briefly it did not stay on for long; Now, it won’t turn on at all...

 

Right light works just fine...

 

Light bulb comes out with a little extra grip, just don't squeeze to hard.

 

I think those just pull out.

 

The dealer can replace that for $350.

 

It just pulls out. Try the good side to see how the contacts work. (Probably worth making sure that one is loosenable anyway.)

There might be a chance the bulb’s wires have gotten caught on the connector. If you work at it I’m sure you’ll get it out.

Thanks guys; I was afraid of breaking something, but friend who also happens to be coworker ended up pulling it out for me...

 

How about getting two bulbs for six bucks at AutoZone and replacing it myself?

 

Good as new!

Those are known as “355” among enthusiasts, for a VIN sequence or something; The 2007-newer ones have the better 5-cylinder engine, and the roughly 2009-2012 models got a 5.3L V8 as an option!
