My horn stopped working like 6 months ago, now my air bag light is on for the driver side.

This is the problem part so I have searched and found.

$300 from this dealer in London: https://www.toyotapartsdirect.ca/p/47892146/843060E010.html

You could always spend $36 on a "Won-Von" spiral cable and replace it yearly :notsure: https://www.amazon.ca/WonVon-Spiral-Spring-Highlander-Corolla/dp/B08HLWMVTQ/

Replacement isn't too difficult. Just do it above 10C as there are plenty of plastic clips:

Video is for a Prius but P/N is the same and procedure is exactly the same. I've done this job on my previous truck to modify the spiral cable to fit a JDM wheel:

Exact same part number as the replacement for our 2013 Tundra off-road work beast at my job.

We didn’t even know the horn wasn’t working because we don’t use it but have to pass An annual commercial safety check each year.

    They sure are pricey :spending:

hard to believe how much money the dealers make on the parts… This is a good link for parts and I’ve seen Peter mention it before as well. The MSRP is exactly what I paid.

I’m going to make sure I negotiate next time I go there especially since the vehicle is owned by a nonprofit organization.

It can connect to a smartphone app via BlueTooth and have graphing capability, export to Excel, etc.

The 7.34A is the truck's current draw with Alpharex headlights and Spyder tail lights on.

How do you guys feel about wheeling with a spare tire under the truck? Legit concern or hakuna matata?

I haven't had a spare under my truck since i got it

some people run low psi in them

some people domt even know its a problem

id rather have mine out because how terrible the departure angle is on our trucks

depends how hard you wheel really. If your constantly banging hitch its probably better to have it in the bed because if its going to get damaged its going to be a sidewall

Not practical at all, say you need the spare, now you have to lower it down in the mud, crawl there, possibly have your cable seized there etc... or say you buried deep in the mud and need anchor point etc, impossible to get the tire then.
Keep it in the bed for ease of access.

I had my 285 spare under the truck for about 5 of my 10 years wheeling. Never caused an issue for me, as I pick good lines and tend not to do stupid shit...

I only ever needed the spare 1 time in Ardbeg and couldn't use it anyway because I lost the stupid lock key... 12 other Tacomas there with wheel locks and no one had a pattern that matched mine

Luckily it was a slow leak, so I was able to air it up and make it to Barrie. Aired up again there and made it home.

The following Monday I had the dealer remove the locks and replaced with normal wheel nuts.

Never damaged the spare in the past 5 years of wheeling. The hitch and stock bumper took all the hits:

This may change with the high-clearance bumper. We'll see.
