Laughed out loud at the razor sheetmetal comment. When I installed a Redarc brake controller in her JLUR I found out all about that. Worst experience install = back bending over the door sill to shred your hands doing anything under that dash.

Nice! I wish the Mojave came with the rear bed overhang sliders like the Rubicon. Adding them is on my todo list. Since you have a JT, any chance on adding some JT bed bars to your product line? :) I ran the Relentless bars on my Tacoma for my RTT. I like the wide footprint design to better distribute the load on the bed rail combined with the +4" height option so you could access gear under the tent while still keeping the majority of the tent out of the air stream. Bed bars are far more cost effective, much lighter and simpler than a rack. There are no bed bars on the market for the JT that I have found, only racks which I'm not particularly fond of for my use.

Those do look really sharp! And I'd really like to replace the white DRLs with amber like the non-LED Tacoma's ran. I hadn't yet seen a product to do that, but it looks like that would be possible with the RGB version of the high-line. While I really like the looks, I'm not a fan of opening up the fender more and introducing more drag though, which will affect highway mpgs. Super nit-picky I know. :anonymous: Jeep has those heinous fender gap fillers for that reason, for the non-Rubi/Mojave models. I certainly wouldn't do anything like that, but not looking to open it up more either.

The Gladiator Max Tow, Rubicon and Mojave all have beefed up axles over over the other models with 10mm axle tube walls. But if wanting true 1-ton there are lots of plug and play parts for JTs which is more appealing that full custom SAS IMO.

Can do on the pulley diameters. The JT also has a better designed exhaust system with a factory tuned equal length exhaust, unlike the Tacoma crossover. Unsure how much that actually plays into the bigger picture, but will certainly help.

Most the Mojave's have leather, but it isn't standard. I'm personally not a leather fan, especially in hot weather with the top off, so I custom ordered my truck since I couldn't get the options I wanted without leather from already produced trucks. The Mojave gets orange stitching on the seats and steering wheel, and deeper sport bucket seats. I really like the color scheme. The leather trucks got extra stitching and leather on the ebrake and console lid, which I do like but didn't come with the cloth option. The whole trucks theme is orange, but they left the locker switch Rubicon red. Would have perfected the look if they made the Mojave one orange to match.

Interested in seeing this. The premium audio in the JT is lacking IMO. I haven’t tried it yet, but I suspect the top and doors off audio experience will be underwhelming. First thing I checked was OEM Audio Plus which specializes in systems designed for the specific vehicle to integrate into the OEM audio system, but they listed their JT system as ‘under development’ months ago.

It's a no brainer if keeping the factory head unit. As compared to the headache and sub-par experience of line level converts and installing amps and speakers only to realize the head unit is the primary source of frustration. I was close to going down that road before I went in on the head unit b/c carplay is just sort of nice.

How about an update on the heated headlight malfunction resolution? Still waiting on a replacement?

I keep putting it off to revisit the aiming issues. But I should just pull the trigger on getting the heated issue addressed separately.

This last month my 7yr old and I put down 133 miles on the bikes over 17 rides. That is 34 load/unloads per bike to go to/from the trail, or 68 bike load/unloads this month alone.

For those into regular biking, these Ride 88 racks are awesome and highly recommended. I transferred them from my Tacoma with some new rail adapters.

I wish my vaccinations were drive through. Kaiser herds us through like cattle. Moooo. Regardless, it’s great to see the expedient work they have been making of this.

LOL, it is there. Pretty sure I've had enough stress for two lifetimes, definitely do not need more.

My Premium twill soft top is due in 10-14 days at the dealer. Really looking forward to the drop top as the weather has been picking up recently.

Had the top off the last couple days since I got word my soft top was in. I was pleasantly surprised the premium stereo did a decent job with the top off and windows down at 70 mph on the highway, not super impressive but decent enough it might give me pause on the OEM Audio Plus upgrade, if they ever get around to releasing it.

Picked up the new top this afternoon. Just barely too large to close the tailgate. A feature that both the Colorado and Gladiator both have is the multi-position tailgate. I really missed this feature on my Tacoma, I don't know why more trucks don't have it, especially the mid-sized short beds where you know the bed length won't be long enough at times.

How does that work? Separate hook for the cable?

I drove on the freeway yesterday after dropping off a UPS box to a friend of mine who lives in the PNW and forgetting to close the tailgate. Fortunately my fancy bison cooler bag was tied up to my bedside molle. Not sure multi position can address driver stupidity. Sounds cool though.

And, woah, Chevy and GMC have some crazy fancy tailgates on the high trim now. Just read up on that. Mind blown. Those will be expensive to replace.

On the Colorado (1st Gen) the cable had two attachment points, one at the top of the bed and one lower down. You uncoupled the end of the cable and reattached it to the lower point. On the JT the design is simpler and you just loop the cable around a stay lower on the tailgate opening. If you zoom into the pic you can see it on the driver side.

Also parked next to another Mojave at the bike trail today. He had made questionable lighting upgrades, but I was nice and didn’t tell him.

Nice! I got around to installing the dashcam, Tazer JL thingy, trail cam and the tonneau. While the factory Mopar instructions for the trail rail system was decent, the Mopar tonneau cover installation instructions were fairly vague. They also were missing some hardware. I’ve got my 15k service coming soon and I’m still hearing abnormal valve train clatter. I recoded it on a GoPro this time for the technician. Let’s hope they actually give it a diagnosis.

I haven't been impressed by the instructions and missing parts on my new soft top either. Unsure how much of that might be due to early part production woes, but you wouldn't find missing parts in a Toyota product.

Very strange on the valve train clatter. Maybe it is normal? The Tacoma 4.0 had the loudest valve train I have ever heard, anything sounds quiet by comparison. The Pentastar 3.6 has been in production since 2010 and is widely regarded as an extremely reliable powerplant with over a decade of service life and many engineering awards. I'm weird in that I like to buy my new vehicles with old powerplants. My 2015 Tacoma had the same basic 4.0L as 2005, the engine design was proven to be bullet proof over a decade and that is part of why I bought it over the 3rd Gen. The JT has Jeeps most proven reliable powerplant with over 11 years of duty under the belt in what is regarded as one of the best modern engines available. While defects are certainly always possible, I'd be very surprised to have such a significant defect 11 years into production of a solid engine design.

I have seriously been thinking of getting rid of the Tacoma for Jeep as I want to be able to run bigger wheels and not have to do tons of modifications. I really love the look of Gladiators with 37's and only a small lift. How is it compared to the Taco, if you could only have one what would it be?

I find we have many similar thought processes. The valve train clatter is getting noticeably louder. I’m going to GoPro it for the dealership. My 2015 Tacoma was the loudest clatter I’ve heard from a modern V6 and I’d call it whisper quiet compared to the Jeep. I had a dude ask me how I liked my diesel... I’ve checked the oil level and it’s a okay. I want to add some liquimoly additive to and see if that helps. At first I thought it could be pinging due to our fuel, but it sounds the same regardless of fuel grade + octane boost. It’s a strange problem and it’s a work truck. I want and need it to be reliable. If the problem persists, I will probably just end up trading it in for another Gladiator, but diesel.

Wow, louder than the 4.0?! Something definitely isn't right.
