Just flashed VR and did a test freeway run. At around 3/4 throttle to merge onto freeway, I literally went "WTF??" because it's got some kick. Like, VTEC kick. I even let off the gas because I thought something abnormal was happening. I was right. The abnormality was just damn-smooth power. Power that I did not feel in the MD17UD nor KDMAX6.0.

A full review soon to come, once GL has been implemented.

**EDIT** This is on Regular gas, standard tip-in.

You experienced the spot where the Atkinson cycle gets disabled. It happens, I’m playing with sport versions in my free time

He should be on the regular I believe.

It tends to occur mostly around the 3/4 throttle mark if you’ve eased it down. Otherwise you’ll bypass the kick-in feeling and it’ll remain smooth throughout

VR 2.0.3 will be the final version of this tune until new tunes are developed

While we continue to finalize the Manual Transmission ECU edits, a much needed "break" was taken to ensure the website inventory was complete and ready once we move onto that step.

I will be travelling this weekend, so if anyone needs a tune for their truck I will still be able to provide it for you.

As of now I have 1,260 different unique variations of VR 2.0.3 on my computer and backed up. Odds are, I have a premade file for your truck no matter the situation.

Tuner packages are still available for those looking to purchase a full set of tunes across all ECU IDs. These packs include 150 premium fuel files and 150 regular fuel files. Each ECU ID includes premade files for the most common tire sizes and differential gear ratios. These packs DO NOT include exhaust modification or AGM values, those are sold separately as needed for discounted rates to installers.

Installed the VR tune (light throttle) for @JJD92 today. Huge improvement over stock, interested to hear the MPG on the drive back.

Installed the VR Tune for @Koolbreeze7 today, 33" tires, stock gears, AGM battery, standard throttle, regular gas, Flowmaster 50 exhaust. Way better than the stock tune, he may try the premium gas version down the road.

I recommend premium tune if you need the extra power mpgs are still decent but if mpgs is what your looking for keep it on the regular tune

Good info, thx. We'll monitor and see if there's a increase in mpg with regular gas. He's getting 16.0 mpg now, hope to see some bump with the current tune.

When I traveled from washington state to moab utah and back to washington after I got all my gear outta of my truck regular tune was cranking out 21.5 mpg and I have heavy tires on my truck I was super impressed . I do gotta say I went up some pretty steep passes on my journey and loaded down with camping gear, tools, fuel, water, cooler heavy shit 15lbs of propane. Anywho I maybe used 3rd gear a few times but with all the weight and idaho utah nevada their speed limit is 80mph I tried to stay around 70mph tune held 5th gear really great . 6th not so much due to weight . Worst mpg I got on the trip was 13.5 mpg and I blame weight severe side wind and steep grades mind you I was trying to maintain 60mph . This was a scenario when truck had to use third gear. I guess this is my review for the regular tune lol. When I was on trails in moab the tune performed great never worried about not having enough power for any of the trails or obstacles I came across. I wasnt at moab to break anything either ,but I convinced myself body damage was acceptable luckily I did not suffer body damage just bottom out once on the crossover pipe underneath scraped that on some rock . Im looking into relocating crossover pipe by transfer case. I did play in some sand dunes which was hard to test the tune with gear in the truck wasn't gonna unload tools fuel ect to go piss mob in red sand lol , I did rip her up in 4lo in the sand power was right there when I needed it . I monitored transmission temps, torque converter temps, coolant , oil pressure , and my favorite the front differential temperature sensor, yes . Overall all temps never got past normal range . Sidenote moab is a higher elevation from past experiences I knew truck was gonna be underpowered a bit but I'm not complaining about it . I can tell you i for sure had more power than when I had my truck stock at high elevation .

Sorry for poor typing just got off work typing skills get lazy

I put almost 3,000 miles on the regular tune in a short amount of time and it is tried and true . I've tested many tunes on here many. Every tune on here has its pros and cons but for me and for the way my truck is set up and my driving habits this tune made my tacoma feel like what I thought it should have felt stock. I could not imagine if I had my truck bone stock besides my k&n cold air intake , they say it seals under the hood so you know it's cold air lol 100+ °F on the intake temperature sensor I call bs, but the thing is I know our trucks engines are not friends of 40°F or colder air . Now what I said just few words ago that was helped out with the regular tune and premium tune not a tremendous improvement but better where I'm happier . Between mooseditty17 and paparee yeah their tunes are awesome I love their tunes but my wallet didn't truck performance was great. I don't need a high performance machine all the time .

I’ll be leaving the NYC area on Sunday afternoon. My ride here through the hills and valleys of PA net 20.7mpg at an average of 75-80mph with the premium standard pedal file.

I’m interested to see how my new softopper affects my mileage. Found a deal out here I couldn’t pass up.

    Hi,
Just wants to tanks @Grossomotto for tuning my Taco.
Love the Tune. The throttle works now the way it should be from the manufacturer.
Faster acceleration and linear, no hiccups.
17 MPH on my way to get tuned, 18 MPG on my way home.
To be fair, on my way home I was diving like the truck was stolen.
So far on my regular drive, I'm getting 2 more miles per gallon.
Best upgrade to the truck so far.

Great to meet you @JJD92. Glad you're liking the tune and enjoying the truck more. If you end up getting an AGM battery, let me know and I'll reflash for free.

    *** Announcement ***

Manual Transmission tunes will be completed this week. All installers who own tune packs can expect these files to be delivered within a week of completion.

    —————————

The website is in the beginning stages of development. We are quickly realizing that the price to host/instantly deliver the tune files is increasing as we develop more.

There are currently 400 premade file pack variations. Each pack includes regular and premium gasoline files.

After the MT trucks are done, we will reach 800 file pack edits for VR 2.0.3 alone. This inevitably will increase our hosting price along with the time required to test the website.

In order for the website option to become viable, we will be raising the price of the tune slightly to accommodate costs of operations along with taxes involved with the sales process. This will not be a significant amount as discussed before in this thread.

    ————————————

Valley Runner is an ‘Octane Dependent’ tune. This simply means that the tune file is based on set fuel requirements. Regular requires 86 and above, Premium requires 91 and above.

This is unfortunately one of the cruxes of our file hosting dilemma, twice the tunes for the same version.

Along with variations for AGM and Exhaust modifications, we have totaled just under 1300 automatic transmission unique variants. If your truck needs a tune, we have the tune available.

In the future, referencing the future VR 3.0 development and other in progress tunes, we will be implementing an ‘Octane Independent’ approach. This not only will free up space and effort on our end, but will eliminate the risk on the user’s end. No more forgetting to run premium or having someone else fill the truck with the wrong fuel.

A tune that has benefits which scale with octane choice. It will be able to run on regular as well as premium.

The trick will be in maintaining the smoothed knock values across different fuel types while building in map edits to ensure different response to variations in octane.

If this would be of interest to you guys, please let us know here before we look into the mechanics to make this a possibility.

    ————————————

Lastly, everyone has been providing awesome feedback on the tune. It’s always nice hearing how much enjoyment and improvement the tune has brought.

Please feel free to continue posting feedback and questions. I’m always available to answer any specifics here or through a direct message.

Great to see, let me know when they're available, I'll install on my MT with premium gas. I'll schedule some dyno runs after. :)
