I have no idea about the sales statistics of the 1st Gen RAV4, but the 2nd Gen (2000-2005) is apparently second only to the Volkswagen New Beetle as a vehicle most likely to be purchased by women!

 

2005 Scion XB; I knew long before I finally got my license that I was likely to end up with a newer vehicle instead of my dad's 1996 Nissan Pathfinder (I got my learner's permit in September 2009 and my driver's license in May 2011). Obviously, I ended up with a Tacoma; However, the Ford Ranger, Honda Element, and even the Scion XB were considered. I really liked the Scion XB (still do!). Unfortunately, the newest examples of the original XB are approaching fifteen years old, and it is getting harder and harder to find a stock example in decent condition; Like any entry-level Toyota vehicle that had an MSRP of less than $20K, these tend to change hands a lot during their time on the road and often end up with people who can't afford to keep them in mint condition or just see it as a commuter appliance and don't give a shit how it looks. This makes me sad

If you look at every Scion XB I've photographed in the last five years or so, you'll notice that they are either customized show cars or beaters; There's never a happy medium! I took pictures of this rather forlorn-looking 2005 model because (A) I love the Scion XB, and (B) I wanted to show how hard it is to find a decent example of this model...

I took a ton of Toyota pictures at Raceway Park last Saturday, and also took a few while doing DoorDash on Sunday; Unfortunately, I forget where I took this picture...



I just remember that it was in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Montgomery County (Either Hatfield, Lansdale, or North Wales) where I dropped off a DoorDash order; Anyway, it’s a 2008-2010ish Scion XB! The 2nd Gen XB had significantly more power than its predecessor, but while it is a good car in my opinion, it lacks the character of the original. It just got too bloated!
