I'd be all for a hybrid Tacoma. I'm not ready for a full electric one yet, but a hybrid one would be amazing.

Modern battery technology is still in infancy. Heck I saw a news report on an electric-powered 2-seater airplane...

My whiz-kid-Master's-degree-bound computer science son has and is working with several professors on a variety
of projects, stuff that blows me away... downloading satellite data by the tera-byte and mashing numbers.

You couple new battery technology with solar and wind and the Saudi's will be out of business. Going to be another 20 - 25 years
but it's coming. Ford is on board... you can move forward with the future or stay stuck in the past. I'm looking forward...
But I probably won't live to see it. You can probably take that last sentence to the bank and draw interest on it.

Im pretty sure we all knew that electric trucks are on the way. Aside from the tacoma and tundra, every other toyota model has a hybrid option.

What makes you think it will be slower. Could end up twice as fast.

I'm satisfied with the performance as is, of course I'm coming off a second-hand-to-me 12 year old 4 cylinder
jeep patriot and haven't had a new vehicle in 30 years so driving my new 2021 is like piloting the space shuttle to me.

I just feel like every time I hop in my lifted(34s) taco, i burn $5 gas. Exaggerating b/c my trip to work is 3 miles with 7 red lights and another several stop signs and taking an incline up the work garage, so i get indicated sub 12mpg. My tank mpg is indicated 12mpg.

If you don't want more power and torque at a faction of the energy cost and a fraction of the maintenance cost. You're crazy.

For me, I am just riding in V8's and Supercharged v6 vehicles until the gasoline engine falls out of favor.

    That's why I have a GX 460 now.

Plan on getting a LX570 or Landcruiser for my wife.

And I will build out a 1st or 2nd gen Tacoma supercharger for myself.

I could handle that if it had a Manual Transmission option.

I could see one if you use it just for work and around town. The EV can't get you very far on a road trip without a charge.

I think my last manual is my 17 sitting in the drive way. Getting The 4Runner has started the auto conversion. So, if a 4Runner hybrid comes out, I can see looking at that, depends on how much more it costs. A few years ago, we talked about the hylander hybrid, but the added cost wasn’t worth it based on the 20 miles daily commute.

Not true. Plenty of charging stations around and more coming. You can easily dive from east to west coast and hit a charging station. Also depends on driving habit just like a gas vehicle.
