I’m seeing 1250, arb is 1000 so not much more

 

Oh nice. They've come down a bit. Was 1450. Finally something that's actually gotten more affordable

Nothing wrong with an auto locker in the front. Mine has been way more reliable than the ARB in the rear. Just need to understand the different handling characteristics of it.

 

This is super important on this application since the supercharger aluminum doesn't deform as much as the intake plenum when torqued. Otherwise you have to use cheater gaskets to fill the gap of a warp, or use some blue hylomar to fill in a bit.

 

Gotta pick your poisons more specifically.

This is OEM style and .025 thick... pretty much exactly what you get out of a Toyota OEM order

You're in the position right now where I don't think either of these will work. Personally I'd be checking my surfaces with a known good straight edge and a set of feeler gauges. If either is warped I'd yard em off down to the machine shop and get em decked flat, simple and permanent. But you could instead buy a sheet of gasket material and trace/cut your own using an old one as a template. The gasket material sheets are pretty thick (can get in sizes from .0625 to .125) and you can use some hylomar on them to ensure a good seal.

 

How am I just learning today that TC made bushings and that ES wasn't the only choice? I've done rack bushings so many fucking times. Not so much that the ES wore out, but more so because I was dumb and left OEM rubber on the brand new rack I bought.

 

Is that how Toyota e lockers work too?

 

Not really, they have a clutch fork that the motor pushes on to lock the spiders together, its quite a bit weaker and still a two pinion center rather than a 4

 

Okay, that’s what I thought. But now learning that a Eaton disengaging on direction changes through me for a loop

 

Where are you seeing $1250?

Only place I can find Harrop is ECGS. They want $1450. Reason I ask is I'm actually pricing out 5.29s trying to figure best, cheapest options with a front locker... and I'm almost definately going to do Harrop... seen WAY too many have problems with their air locker.

Well shit... LOL... I was just looking on Just Differentials last night. I think I missed it because I was looking for Harrop specifically (Eaton / Harrop are the same, I believe)

also I'd just like to note that older elockers worth as Zane descriped. But the new ones(3rd gen tacos) are the Eaton electromagnet design.

 

If you're looking at getting Nitro gears at the same time, you can add a front Eaton e locker for $1210 or front ARB for $999 and a rear Eaton e locker for $1098 or rear ARB for $999. I plan on adding front and rear e lockers when I regear later this year.
