Question for those that have had this lift installed: is the ride better, worse, or the same as stock? I don't do crazy off-road stuff, but I do go out to some remote hiking areas in Colorado. Does it do alright off-road?

Mine rides same as stock. I haven't done any offroad yet, but wouldn't expect any issue.

Is the dealership telling you they have and/or can get the lift kits? Mind called me Saturday and told me there is a nationwide "all stop" on kit installs due to nationwide shortage. WTF! He told me they have done a couple, but his news was kinda from left field. I may call several dealerships in the mainland to see if they are aware of a "nationwide shortage."

No haven't heard of this news.

I ordered the kit and made the appointment for the install. He did tell me that they can no longer separate the front TRD grille from the kit to save a bit of money.

It's all or nothing whether you want the grille or not.

Mine felt more or less the same on my stock tires and wheels. Once I added new wheels and 265 70R17 AT’s (General Grabber ATX), I felt the ride softened up a bit in the front.

Got it done on a Wednesday, the. Went to Death Valley on Saturday. Drove a lot on the nasty washboard there and through Titus canyon. Rough backroads out there. B9F26671-58F2-4D2B-867D-4A9C3B6F3885.jpg

Does anyone have the install instructions. I went to here and it doesn't let me see the instructions. I saw it somewhere on this long thread, but I haven't been able to find it.

I also ordered the kit yesterday (04/19/21), it arrived today (04/20/21), and it's scheduled to get installed tomorrow (Karl Malone Toyota, Draper UT.). I'll be posting before and after picks. Any angle or position picture requests?

Thanks for posting this. It contains very valuable install information that can be used with other suspension lifts besides the TRD kit.

I tried to order the grille from the kit (P/N: PT228-35200-20) but was told I needed a Pro VIN to order it... which is funny since the kit specifically excludes the Pro from the application list

It's now just one part number. So there's no way to order just the grill

just find someone selling a 2020+ pro around you and use their vin. I found some dealership selling a used one near me online and they had pics of the vin, so I plugged that in.

Let me rephrase, from what I understood, you can order the Heritage grill, but it has to match a TRD Pro VIN. For a while, the dealer could order the Heritage grill from the TRD Lift Kit separately (even though Toyota told them they had to order everything all together) when they were separate parts in one kit. Now they are one part number for the whole TRD Lift Kit.

Someone either advised you incorrectly (probably a local dealership) or you are very mixed up.

As I pointed out above you can order the TRD grill used in the TRD suspension lift kit separately by part number and without providing any type of vin number substantiating anything.

    P/N: PT228-35200-20

Can't make it any more clear than that.

You are both right, but most dealerships and parts stores require a vin for ordering the grille. It’s rare for them to not require the vin.

just cause it comes up that you can order it online doesn’t mean they won’t cancel the order. Spark parts will cancel it on you, I have first hand experience with that and then provided a vin for the second order.

I’ve only put 250 miles on since install, also added new tires and rims, and it rides exactly the same as stock, no issues, no vibrations. I'm running 38 psi in all tires based upon input from other members here.

You do need a VIN. I tried 3 dealerships and they all required one. When I purchased online, I out my VIN in (TRD Sport) and it worked. Then I received and email one day later informing me that my purchase would be cancelled if I did not have a TRD Pro VIN that came with this specific grille from the factory. I called and the parts guy told me to just go up to my local dealership and find a TRD Pro on the lot with this grille and use that VIN. He said Toyota won't know the difference. I did just that, then responded to the email with that Pro VIN. About 1 week later I received a tracking number. It's coming in on April 26th. So just do the car lot thing.
