My neighbors Tesla has been to the dealer 4 times in 9 years. Brakes and tires still good.

 

Solid state batteries are here in the next few years.

 

I don't get what you're saying, the electricity isn't free and is finite. The more you use the less battery life you get. Wear and tear is the same on components.

 

With regen brakes are usually lifetime of the vehicle. All the maintenance is tires and washer fluid.

 

Valid questions. It is broadly accepted in the scientific community that EV vehicles are a better environmental choice than gasoline engines. The studies include
the relevant factors that are most important: The emissions involved in manufacturing the cars and in producing gasoline and diesel fuel, how much gasoline conventional cars burn, and where the electricity to charge electric vehicles comes from, and EOL (end of life) recycling.

If you assume electric vehicles are drawing their power from the average grid in the United States, which typically includes a mix of fossil fuel and renewable power plants, then they’re almost always much greener than conventional cars. Even though electric vehicles are more emissions-intensive to make because of their batteries, their electric motors are more efficient than traditional internal combustion engines that burn fossil fuels.

allows you to filter climate impact by vehicle type: Gas, Fully Electric, Diesel, Hybrid, etc. You can play around with it and see how much better EV actually are. I'm sure there is at least one site on the Interweb that will disagree with the majority of scientists and researchers about this, but that is the nature of the world today.

The bottom line is that EVs will be the end of gas engines a LOT sooner than anyone realizes and it will be for the better. Book it.

 

And wiring harnesses when rodents/varmint eat em.

Electric motors have one (1) moving part.
Electric Vehicles don't have transmissions (well, except for the Porsche Taycan 4 and Turbo models)

Take apart the six-cylinder Atkinsons/Otto frankenstein engine that Toyota built and count the number of moving parts on a workbench ;-)
Next, take apart the front/rear/ differentials, transmission, transfer case, etc and put all those parts on the workbench ;-)

Sure... if you're in to driving 3 or 4 hours and then sitting and watching your car charge for 2 hours. Even if there are charging stations at regular intervals for an extended road trip (which there are not, no matter how much you want to pretend there are) you still have to figure in the charging times, which will essentially cut your actual daily hours/miles driven by 30% minimum.

Not only depends on driving habits... It also depends on if you are carrying a load or pulling a trailer, and terrain... and then you have to figure that ALL of the stated miles per charge are exaggerated bullshit based on better than perfect conditions. Just like "estimated MPG" has always been.

 

This is being marketed to people who never owned a Dell laptop.

 

I think they should make electric hybrid planes first.. during 9/11 when the planes were grounded the EPA stated the emissions and greenhouse gases were down. I doubt you could make a full electric plane , well because of lightening but I think they should start there before pushing EVs.. plus electric aerospace engineering would advance a lot more technologies just as NASA did in the 60s

I think commercial electric aircraft will pose a much larger challenge than cars due to weight, safety concerns, etc.

 

Why would you need solar panels on a Hybrid? The engine and brakes will charge the battery. That is what is so great about the F-150..It comes from the factory with a 7.4kw generator/inverter, over a kilowatt of usable battery power, and you can charge everything (including the battery) by simply running the engine. You could even plug in your camper to the 30 amp outlet in the bed...Pretty sweet!
