Truth be told I have no idea what the difference between the two transmissions is other than they mate to different engines, I'm sure they are both as stout as the other

Nope, the W series is great for a 4cyl trans, but it's weak compared to the R series.

The R150 is definitely beefier than W59 in complete construction but I've never torn into the gears of one as intimately as I have a W59. But there are dirt track guys that push stupid power outta 2rz/3rz and leave em on stock manuals

 

My vinyl cutter keeps cutting stuff like this because the pinch rollers are shitty at their job and keeps jamming up the vinyl.

the pinch rollers are definitely frustrating to dial in

also make sure you're not starting the cut too close to the feeding edge of the vinyl because the end may snag while going back and forth
