Please forgive me if i havent kept up with everything but a simple question about flash kit upgrade(non-vft). Is the update still locked to the original computer you initially installed on, or can i install the update on a new pc?

I do not know. On the vF software, we can have three installations.

You can give it a shot now according to the 1st Post.

Yes. I like to do most stuff on my nice lap top and have a little cheap one under the seat so I don’t have to worry about the nice one. I have the files in the one drive. Working well for me.

You're on the new Flash Manager replacement? If so, how is it going?

VF tuner. It’s working great. I’m not very familiar with windows or very tech savvy and get frustrated with that, but with help from
support It’s working for me. I had a hard time registering until I just cut and pasted the key. I followed forum instructions on upping my charging voltage for an AGM battery. It’s awesome to be able to modify the OV tunes. Happy with that. I am going slow trying to figure out some basics. Having a hard time finding info, but haven’t been putting much time in to it. Every time I push the pedal, I’m happy.

Yeah. I had a hard time setting up on a second computer for issues of my own making. I finally got there though.

Check out the Perf and Tuning forum for some editing threads. There are some on the vF Tuner forum also.

@cruxx was asking about the Flash Manager replacement though. It may have different rules than standard vF.

What about anyone doing tunes in the Springs or Denver area? El Paso is a pretty long trek for me.

Question about OV tune and fuel. The guy said there’s an 87 or a 91 tune. He says if you get the 91 tune and run 87 fuel it will knock. My question is this- does E10 or even E15 (88) make a difference? It’s still 87 grade but has an ethanol blend? This is really my only hold up.

That is not correct. All 2.0 Tunes are Octane Learning just like stock.

If you run 87 on the Prem tune, the ignition set point has to move pretty far, so the tune is more mellow than 87 on the Reg tune.

I put thousands of miles with 87 on the Prem tune. There just is no knock that I could find on the 2.0 Tunes.

You should probably find someone who knows more about the tunes that they are flashing.

^ That is excellent information. I'm glad they are OLE though I run 91 full time, there has been a time or two I had to use 87 due to lack of premium and I'm glad even if it wasn't running full power it wasn't going to harm anything. Better to have an 87 tune and run 91 to learn up than 91 and learn down but it can work both ways from my understanding. I know my 2002 Camaro (LS1) is much like this (but far less advanced). It has had nothing but 91 it's entire 19 years of life but it can run 87 if you have to. It won't run like normal but the sensors will switch to a different map (lower octane table) to prevent damage and allow it to run.

On an unrelated note, has anyone heard back thus far with a VF registration? I sent my VIN and OVTune/Flash Kit order number from last year in on Thursday (4/15) so it's been a week. Nothing yet, but I'm sure it's because there's a thousand or so of us that'll be upgrading. Would love to check out those community tunes. Poor PapaRee probably things I bailed back when I was asking to check out Kruiser, lol. I just haven't been able to flash anything all year.

You could post that on the vF from with your Order Number because it is not possible to tie usernames to orders. Also, check your spam folder.

I just updated VFT 1.2.9.9.8 on a new laptop and registration went fine. Should I flash back to stock before I prepare my ECU to license my truck for the first time. I’m currently on KDMAX 6.0 but flashed using the old version of VFT

    Thanks

No need to flash to stock. Spend your credits to license your VIN and flash whatever you like.

Are there still a bunch of us waiting on the Flash Kit upgrade?
