I’m 2jz ge swapping my 2001 Toyota Tacoma. Follow along to see how it goes.

I have already started my swap. I got a 1998 Lexus gs300 car for the motor. I got CX Racing motor mounts and turbo kit. I don’t know what I am doing but I am willing to figure it out. I just put the input shaft and bell housing on my r150f transmission. It bolts up to the 2jz now. Take a look at some photos. If you have questions I will do my best to reply. upload_2021-4-21_14-22-43.jpgupload_2021-4-21_14-22-43.jpgupload_2021-4-21_14-22-43.jpgupload_2021-4-21_14-22-43.jpg

Dude...LOVE the Raptor Liner job. And the manual-swapped DCSB.

:popcorn:Hopping on the popcorn train for this one.

Thanks! The first thing I ever did to the truck was manual swap it. I ain’t gonna drive a boring slow automatic Toyota. I did the Raptor liner just a few months ago. I really love it so far

I really don’t know yet but I figured I will try to use the ecu that came out of the car. It has a immobilizer so I will have to use the Lexus key switch to make it work. I’m learning as I go. If that doesn’t work I will figure something else out. If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.

VVTI 2JZ? Nice! those are getting harder to find. You might want to look at the hardened steel thrust washer from marlin crawler for the trans if you are planning on putting some power down. The guys over there do transmission stuff for the r154 (MKIV supra) which is nearly identical to our transmissions. They also work on off road rigs with our trucks. They can tell you if the trans is 100% ready as is or not. Good luck (also shifter forks on our trucks. After that i think 30 spline input and output shafts but thats huge hp range)

I will look into it. Thank for the suggestions. Yes it is 1998 vvti 2jz ge. I just bought a running car for really cheap out of California. I am thinking in the 300 hp range. I got a cx racing turbo kit for it. And if I can control my foot on the gas pedal I should be fine.

Just some more updates. I did put some time in today on my truck. I got the motor in and bolted up. The Tranny is in too. I still have my old drive lines for my automatic that I believe will work. I will definitely have to run an electric fan on the outside of my radiator. It was really tight but it is in. upload_2021-4-24_21-31-8.jpgupload_2021-4-24_21-31-8.jpgupload_2021-4-24_21-31-8.jpgupload_2021-4-24_21-31-8.jpg
I will have to modify my intake runner or put manual brakes on it. The brakes booster is really tight. I can’t put my intake tube on.

I will modify my transmission mount because it pushes the transmission back almost 3 inches. As I go I will keep y’all updated with pictures.

Looks like a tight fit. Thinking mechanical or electric fan?

Thanks! Yeah I hope it turns out okay. I am wanting to push just over 300 hp. I was falling asleep in take out before. It was so slow. And I was only getting 14 mpg. Maybe it will be better I don’t know.
