I've looked through this thread a bit and I'm still a bit unsure on what wheel specs I should be looking for. How do 16x8 wheels with 0 offset and 4.5" of backspace do? I've read that an 8" wide wheel is at the limit for these tires. I don't have any sort of lift on my truck, so I'm just trying to make sure I won't have issues before I order wheels and tires.

This thread says I should expect to rub with no lift? But a number of responses in this thread say otherwise, so I'm a bit lost.

    Thanks!

I can't speak specifically as to what's required or fits on 2nd gens, but suspension lifts have nothing to do with fitting larger tires (body lifts do). As most suspension lifts don't change the available travel, the tire either fits in the wheel well or not when the suspension is fully compressed. You can mask the tires not fitting with a suspension lift, but if you actually use the full range of travel of your suspension, you'll eventually rub. Read this writeup for some more details.

One thing that can help is how you setup your alignment. It's possible to use the LCA cams to move the tire back and forth in the wheel well to mitigate rubbing, but you can run into issues with achieving acceptable castor if you move it too much.

16x8 with 4.5" backspacing is what you need.
Only place I rubbed was on my front mud flap.
I went to Rokblokz mud flaps and removed the little flap in front of the front tire.
Good luck, check my other posts on this thread for more info on my set up.

I mentioned it once before that I wished I went with 17" wheels because I want bigger brakes.

The truck is back on BFG MT's. 255/85r16 of course. I researched this back in the day and that's why I went with this size. The right side front flap fell off some years ago. It rubbed on the first set of mud terrains. Today it is the left side that offends at a certain angle of steering on left turns. I am gonna remove the offending mud flap today. I used to have Eibach coils up front, but those coils broke so as far as suspension I am completely stock.

Fyi, its more about the backspacing not the lift when fitting these.
You need 4.5" then you might rub a little on the front mud flaps.

Ride fine still - 255/85R16 Cooper ST Maxx. A bit rough on the roads but I air down to 20 PSI at the most on forest service or rougher roads and they get quite comfortable. Next step is suspension for a little added ride quality in the back country.

Or run a low front end lift with high caster UCA that will allow you to move your wheel forward a 1/2”.

Good experience here. We drop to maybe 18psi for wheeling. Love these KM3s!

    Still loving mine.
New lift and StopTech brakes for 16" wheels to boot.
Still doing well with stock gears.

Been reading through a large chunk of this thread and have seen contradicting opinions, hoping to clarify. I have chance to get toyo open country MTs for a good deal. I have read that they don’t rub with 2nd gen TRD OR wheels. However I also see some people saying they need a spacer to get closer to 4.5 BS so they don’t rub with, TRD OR wheels. Looking to run them on my 2011 DCSB. Anyone running this set up?
