Turbo BS Thread

I was only looking for parts, for the turbo being used in the turbo kit I am building for that PreRunner.

One part, was the compressor outlet flange.

Supposedly the wastegate has been ordered from Turbosmart. Although it has taken a while for it to arrive. (I did not order it.) Back-up plan, will be one from that website where you purchased your turbo, should this one not arrive.

 

Couldn't get anything accomplished with efficiency tonight. Lost power to my garage. Weird shit. Hot to Neutral, zero. Hot to ground - 120. Neutral to ground - 120. That ain't right.

I did get the lower intercooler support finished in the dark though. After spending some time troubleshooting the power problem.

 

Anyone have any experience on pre turbo meth injection here? I was trying to find real spray nozzles that would be good for it (small enough droplets) and eventually found fogging nozzles from McMaster Carr. Kinda afraid that the tip would break and fall into the engine, turbo and nuke everything.

Here are some of the other things that I came across yesterday, on the truck. Last night was the first night that I let the truck idle up to normal operating temperature. Had a @Sleipnir moment.




When crossing the sensors over, I also found these gems. Passenger side first.







And my crafty tube notcher.

 

That's gonna be a lot of tweaking and welding on that frame... and why all the oil? Blown oil return line?

 

Cracks from pushing too much power?

 

Pretty sure it gets hucked regularly looking at the suspension haha, 1st gens have frame cracking issues too when pushed.

Also yesterday I tore into my BMW to find out my chargepipe was missing a 1/8-27NPT plug on the underside. So I was still making 19.5psi with that massive leak. But now I can get to 23psi solid. Still have timing issues so I'm fairly sure an injector is bad.

 

This is why when I had my engine out I plated my front frame and eventually Ill be doing my rear.

 

Pretty sure that the seals on the turbo are bad. Being that it came from and unknown history, and is used.

Bolded. Exactly that. Since it races fairly regularly in some pretty serious off-road Baja style courses. 30 mile + loops.

Good find! Makes me really want to add some boost to my Bimmer. Soon enough. Which Bimmer?

 

I've got a 2011 135i M-Sport with the DCT. It's pretty fast for a tiny car, at 23psi when it's running correctly its about on par with a bone stock F80 M3 for speed and power. Standard bolt ons, catless downpipe, charge pipes, 7" intercooler, and a engine and DCT tune.

 

It's good that I live in a state where I'm not allowed to modify my street cars. So many tickets

Whhhhaaaatttt?! You mean someone could sell you a turbo with bad seals?! That's the opposite of what the guy who sold me mine said! Maybe that's why I fired him

Yeah not looking forward to swapping this valve cover or these fuel injectors. Oh well that tomorrow's problem

 

I should never complain that my truck is too tight. That downpipe swap must of be exciting.

 

Yeah, it's tons of fun, factory v-band exhaust make it possible without droppin the subframe. But it sucks ass trying to maneuver it in and out. Changing the AFR sensor requires a degree and experience as a contortionist
