If something something hits you hard enough to bend this, you have bigger issues.
I stood on mine, drag it through rocks, bumped into stuff, never hurt it.
It should be able to handle shopping carts and the glancing blows from camrys.

But my main concern would be how it looked.... i can see it having a snowball affect. Charles will be digging on the new found tough look... Next it'll be wheels and tires, a lift.... or it could look odd, i dunno.

Hell i think i've talked myself into getting another one for this truck.

We're talking about the metal pushbar thing or one that wraps around the entire bumper?

I might get that, but I'm either going to replace the front bumper cover or plastidip it before I commit to buying it...

And I’m not talking about the truck, either!

The truck could be considered a unicorn it it’s own right, but this thread is about the owner. I was pulling into a shopping center to pick up a DoorDash order from Panera Bread when I noticed a 5-lug RC not far ahead of me; On top of that it had body-color bumpers! An SR5!

The truck pulled into a parking spot, and I had some time on the DoorDash order so I stopped directly behind the now parked truck to ask the owner; Turns out it was a woman, probably younger than me driving it. Keep in mind that I have walking up to random Tacoma owners and asking them about their trucks for years with no issues, and people approach me to ask about my truck...

The woman looked a bit freaked out and wouldn’t roll down the window; I went back to my truck and put my mask on, and asked if the truck was an SR5, but all she would do is shake her head no.

I decided to go ahead to Panera and come back to take pictures of the truck after; No dice...

She was still in the truck and figured that attempting to take pictures of me would result in (A) the cops being called, or (B) me getting threatened with pepper spray or a handgun...

I just left to drop off the Panera Bread order...

The “unicorn” here is not the truck, or even the female owner, but the fact it was an indifferent/suspicious/unfriendly owner...

Before people on here who don’t know me go raking me over the coals, let me explain something...

I have Aspergers Syndrome and even at the age of 32 picking up on social cues is still not that easy for me. Also, I have been talking to random Tacoma owners for YEARS; I’ve lost count of the number of times perfect strangers have come up to me in parking lots and asked about my truck. Most are fellow Tacoma owners and others are people looking to buy one...

I also may be inept at times, but I know there’s a time and a place for everything; For example, stopping to take a picture of a particularly nice Tacoma or Tundra in a rough-looking neighborhood is obviously not something I’d do because people would get suspicious and could possibly react violently.

In this case, I was at a fairly nice shopping center in Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania (It’s technically Montgomeryville, but all of the store have North Wales addresses). There are $500,000+ homes within a mile of the shopping center; I say again that I’ve lost count of the number of Tacoma owners I’ve approached in parking lots to ask about their trucks and NEVER had an issue (this was the first time :().

Just food for thought, but just because you have the same model vehicle as someone else doesn't automatically enroll everyone into a 'bro' club. e
Even though your intentions were good, the other owner had less then NO idea what you were doing, or what you wanted. I have a 3rd gen 4runner that's in pretty decent shape, I NEVER like other people just walking up to it and looking around as if they have some special privilege to do so. Most of the time it's someone with a clapped out beater of a 4runner, so I'm assuming that they're looking at what they could potentially steal off of my rig.

I'm a grouch and hate when people walk up to me when I'm doing my own thing. I don't mind the "nice truck" comment but I hate when they are introducing themselves so they can talk about their life.

There’s a lot of Eastern European immigrants in my area (mostly Russians, but a lot of Albanians and Ukrainians as well); I think it’s possible she might not have understood what I saying and this served to freak her out even more...

All I did was ask her if it was an SR5; One time some guy approached me in the parking lot of the bank asking me about my truck (he had a 2nd Gen too), and 99.9% of the time you can’t shut me up about my truck. However, that day I was in a bad mood for reasons I will never remember and kinda had to fake being nice...

PennSilverTaco, you have to remember not everyone is cool with people walking up on them.

me too. If I want someone to ask me about my vehicle, I’ll bring it to a car show, otherwise just smile and a wave is plenty.

It’s 2021 and people are already antisocial and freaked out by a lot of things that are already going on. And to a younger girl it’s already gonna be considered creepy some guy is coming up to her and asking her questions that to her are probably considered “weird”. Regardless of your honest intentions. Personally I’d be creeped out too. Just because I own a Tacoma doesn’t mean I want someone coming up to me asking questions, taking pics. I don’t even like other Tacoma owners waving at me.

Being said I would think it’s in your best interest to relax a little. Because the “Tacoma stalking” could perhaps lead to a real stalking charge or something else in the wrong situation. Stick to car shows, auto shows, and dealerships.

I’d also like to point out that this is the first time something like this happened in at least seven years of photographing Tacomas; When people see what I’m driving, it becomes pretty obvious why I’m interested in what they’re driving!

Damn, you guys make no sense at all. You don't want to talk to anybody about your trucks, but you're all hanging out in a forum that's filled with people talking about your trucks. OP, if I ever run into you we'll have a beer and shoot the shit. Just because...
