    One day you're going to wake up looking up that the sky with your front teeth missing. Gotta be smart Charlie. Space invaders and/or the over curious stranger aren't always a welcome thing for the average person.

    PennSilverTaco, you need to listen to that song, "The boys are back in town " by Thin Lizzy. Don't let any limp-wristed Cretans dissuade you from trying to initiate convo with your brethren Tacoma drivers. The world needs righteous Tacoma owners like you. You gotta keep trying to put out that great Tacoma vibe. If and when it fails just think of Thin Lizzy. My favorite verse in that song is when lead singer Philip Parris Lynott sings, "And that time over at Johnny's place, well, this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face ; Man, we just fell about the place, If that chick don't wanna know, forget her..." Many times I've been in your shoes and I stopped letting it get me down.

    This is what happened to you, brother. Aspergers doesn't even enter into it good natured, buddy. You went up to connect on a true Tacoma level and that chick couldn't muster ups the human decency to acknowledge you in a positive way. Maybe she is so beaten down in submission she has an unshakable need to shy away creating walls. That happens to folks. But don't try to internalize it and let it get you down. Let your soul behave like a 4.0 in a mud bog.

    this lol. I love when people take an interest in my truck and ask me about it, and I've done it to others as well.

    The only thing I think you did really wrong OP, was stopping behind her and (to my understanding) effectively blocking her in. That's a pretty aggressive way to approach someone and I can certainly see why she'd be on edge and unwilling to talk with you or even roll down her window lol. I know you said it was a nice area...but even still. I'd be wary as well.

    EDIT: nvm I see you parked to the side of her, perpendicularly, not behind her blocking her in. misunderstood. Oh well..don't let it bug you too much. There's a multitude of reasons why someone would refuse...you had good intentions, and nothing bad transpired from it. Keep snapping those pics! (respectfully of course)

    This, kinda. I have PTSD from the military and someone unfamiliar coming up to me freaks me the hell out 9 out of 10 times. That said, I have a shitload of people saying ‘nice truck’ which I can deal with but thats plenty.
    My husband is the opposite, he gets tons of compliments on his RCLB Tundra and chats people up when they approach him. All people are different.

    It was in a parking lot Jeff. So if he pulled into the spot right behind her, all she had to do is drive forward and leave.

    I can see your concern having kids. Totally get that.

    I parked in the road, but not directly behind her; She could see me from where she was sitting in the truck. I should have backed into a parking a space, waited for her to get out, and then gotten out of the truck at the same time and said “Hey, you have the same truck as me!” I’ve done this numerous times before and it always ends in friendly conversation that end up lasting way too long...

    Thanks, Chris; Actually there was a sidewalk in front of her and I was parked lengthwise in the street behind her.

    I had a guy I believe to be a PTSD vet flip out on me for taking pics of his decent GMC Sonoma in the bank parking lot back in 2016, and try to grab my camera; Luckily I thought ahead and kept my truck in drive. As soon as he started approaching my truck, I floored it!

    And I’m not some tiny dude; I’m 5’11” and about 270 pounds, so Bill makes a really good point.

    Bill’s never been wrong...

    Also, I don’t know if you read my DoorDash thread Bill, but not long after I started doing DoorDash again earlier this year, some grumpy old man thought I was a porch pirate attempting to steal what I was actually delivering. Immediately after that happened, I ordered magnetic DoorDash signs on Amazon; Now, people will know I’m not casing their neighborhood!

    I think the thing you're missing is that unlike you and many of us here, who are all somewhere between obsessed and mildly interested in Tacomas. Most people don't see them as anything special, because they mostly aren't. There's literally millions of them spread pretty evenly throughout the US, and a majority of people don't care since they see them as any other appliance. Understandable that you're excited it could have been something special but it's most likely the person bought it based on mileage/price and that's about it

    @ColoradoTJ
    @Plain Jane Taco

    This happened probably three years ago in the movie theater parking lot; It is another example of autistic ineptitude, but not on my part...

    My friend and I were going to see a movie and there was a 2nd Gen AC parked in the lot; I of course wanted to park next to it for a picture, but quickly realized it was too tight. I ended up making K-turn to turn around, and hit a Ford Focus that was parked caddy corner to my truck. I did not feel the impact, but the older woman sitting in the car sure did; My friend Mike, who is lower functioning than me and doesn’t know how to properly use words sometimes, told me that “people were staring and there was a woman looking at me”.

    I just slowly drove away and parked the truck elsewhere; Nothing ever happened, and it wasn’t until I reviewed the dashcam footage long after the movie had ended and I’d taken Mike home that I did in fact bump the Focus...

    You can see the car move in the video, but I never felt it; What my friend was trying to say was that the owner of the Focus had gotten out of her car and was actually following my truck on food.

    In the dashcam footage, you can see her give up after less than a minute and go back to her car; Again, I parked the truck and went into the movie theater without knowing what had happened.

    After talking it over with my parents, we decided that if the woman had given my license plate to the cops, I’d tell the police exactly what I told my parents; That I did not feel the impact, that I didn’t realize I’d hit the car until I reviewed the dash cam footage, and that if there was damage I’d either give the woman cash or provide my insurance info.

    This was probably three years ago and nothing has happened, so I’m guessing there was no damage or the woman didn’t care!

    I have this happen to me all the time, men coming up to talk to me about my truck. I have no problem with it and find it semi flattering lol. But my wife has told me several stories taking the truck to the grocery store or other stores with large parking lots. She gets approached all the time and has the same reaction. To some people they just don’t care about or like vehicles enough where they can justify that as a reason to approach. My wife is always super suspicious and says well I didn’t know if that’s what they really wanted. I say keep it up most people would be happy to talk about their vehicle with you. Just use your best judgement. Not to be sexist but maybe just keep away from women. Not that they don’t take interest in Tacoma’s but in my experience a guy will tell you to fuck off if he doesn’t want you around sometime women don’t feel they can say that kinda stuff.

    Being approached by someone while you are seated in your car is a different vibe than if you were standing outside the car. Ever have someone walk up to your vehicle and tap on the driver’s window? It’s off putting. I don’t know why. But it is.
