Lehner retracted his comments and clarified that he shouldn't of made comparisons between league policies and prisons. I think we all know people are struggling with their mental health right now and Lehner is definitely a guy I would expect to crack under this sort of situation. The guy struggles with addiction every day, his own words from a couple of years ago, so him lashing out at the league because he feels his mental health is under attack isn't really a surprise. I'd be worried though that he's about to collapse into the person he was before he went into the NHL mandated substance abuse recovery program.

I'll leave things there. No one wants to get banned for a topic that's not okay on TW (Covid chatter).

The Vets are showing up big on the Leafs now. Arguably last night the players who drove the bus were Thorton, Fogliano, Tavares, Spezza, and Sandin (okay he's a kid but he solidified his spot in the lineup last night for now). I loved seeing Thorton and Spezza fired up on their line and making things physical. Fogliano makes the top line immediately a threat and shutdown line all in one, he is great at reading where the kids are faltering and moving into a spot to break up the turnover. Tavares in the last two weeks really looks like the Captain. Hopefully this is the playoff push the Leafs desperately need.

 

Also y'all can make fun of the Leafs all you want but supposedly all of the Leafs players pooled together enough of their own money to top up the AHL players to their normal salaries without triggering any cap issues. From what's being reported, basically Spezza brought the idea to Tavares after he saw a couple of young players he was working with were struggling to pay rent, the AHL minimum right now is $25K because of Covid, and Tavares organized the effort among the Leafs players. That's class right there.
