Before I traded in my 2020 I re-installed the factory knobs. Now the Rav4 knobs live in my 2021. Still love being able to actually grab the volume knob while driving.

My bad. I thought you were referring to the radio knobs. Disregard my comment lol.

I have noticed a wobble, also. I have had two sets of different aftermarket knobs on my 2020 and both have wobbled a bit. I guess it’s not a problem but kind of odd.

So I buy these RAV4 knobs from my local dealer, and while they do fit the shaft, they aren't snug and they keep falling off. I'm thinking they simply don't go far enough on the shaft to really fit snugly? Don't know, but I'm not pleased. BTW- I have the JBL system. Any suggestions as to what to do so they fit snugly?

    Somewhere hot, flat and brown.
Dunno man. I installed and loved them, but... The Volume knob is perfect. The tuner knob (which I guess I would use mostly for selecting something) is a little janky. On closer inspection, the volume knob (driver) side is mounted flush to the rest of the dash, but the passenger side is recessed a few mm...maybe something that could be tweaked and resolved if one were inclined to do some minor surgery, but I still like this mod. Sooooo much easier to grab the knob and turn. Volume predominantly.

Did you remove the little black plastic piece from the RAV4 knob before installing them onto the radio? I did mine yesterday and they feel excellent; absolutely what the truck should have come with in the first place.

DOH! Only after posting my "problem" above. I noticed that it looked like the black plastic piece was removable, and it surely was. I removed both and the knobs now fit much more securely. Happy camper!

Did you pull the black center piece out of the knobs? I've seen some folks who have missed that step. Here's a pic to show you the piece that needs to come out. It will just pull right out.

I showed this step in the write up. Glad you figured it out. They work great.

My wife just bought a RAV4 this week. Hmmm... wonder if she’d notice if I swapped her radio knobs with my Taco knobs? :D

I just did this mod yesterday. Soo much better and i like that they still retain the backlight.

I can honestly say that I’ve never even though about my radio knobs, never really had any positive or negative feelings about them. But now I’m digging the rav4 knobs...

Just ordered the RAV4 knobs today. Do the knobs just pull off?

Yes. You will notice that the original Tacoma knobs have little springs around the shaft to provide additional tension, while the RAV4 knobs do not. This doesn't seem to make any difference. There is only one way to put them on since there's a flat side on the shaft. (As has been discussed, it's very important to pop off and discard the inner collar on the RAV4 knobs.)

When installing the new knobs, push them all the way in until they are flush with the surface. Then they will pop out slightly. That's normal because being able to push them relates to one of the functions of the knobs.

    Don’t do it!!! Lol

    Yep.

What he said. Pull the old ones off. Remove the inner black plastic piece from the new knobs. Push the new knobs on. Done. Review the original post #1 for pics and instructions. It’s easy.
