I talked her into putting it away from the house so it'll be over to the right of the house

After pricing lumber, lack of time, etc. I think this is our best option.

 

Gazebo and a shady back yard is the best part of my house.

I did some looking and measuring yesterday and as low as our house is right there to begin with, it would have been hard to tie it in and look right.

We already have the patio, may need to move a few stones but it shouldn't be bad.

 

I had the opposite problem - mine was too tall.



Those posts are 12' and are sticking out of the ground 8'. I'd need another 3' to get over the door.

I priced 6" x 6"s today and was blown away, then added all the lumber together it was crazy. Didn't even figure in fasteners, I said the heck with this

If memory serves, my wall ran about $1k but that was before prices blew up. Rough number crunching would put me at about $1,800 before the electrical work and I'm sure I'm leaving something out.

Sounds like a kit would be easier and cheaper!
