    Hey all,

I have a few dumb questions that I haven’t been able to get answers to after doing lots of research. My questions stem from a general worry I have that the 3.5 inch sus lift and 33in tire upgrade I’m about to give my SR5 might look too big.
Do SR5s have less clearance and/or do they sit lower than all the TRD models? The reason I ask about the TRDs is because I’m trying to predict what my SR5 will look like after the upgrades. I rarely see SR5s where I live but I see a ton of stock TRDs and they always look like they have a bit of a lift on them already compared to the SR5 (could just be bigger tires). Basically, I want to know if a 3.5 inch lift with 33inch tires will look goofy or douchey on my SR5. My truck is a double cab and 6ft bed. I also have a leer midrise shell on it, so I’m wondering if that will bring everything down a bit. Also keep in mind, I will not have rock sliders or steps on my truck.
I realize my concerns here are purely superficial.
    Insight greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure they are all the same heights. The trds come with slightly larger tires so that may be it. Sr5s run a 30 inch tire. Trds run a 31.
As far as looking douchey, that's subjective. What looks douchey to you may look super dope and bad ass to someone else. I'd say do it man.

I have an Icon adjustable 3.5” lift set at 3”. My tires are 285/70/17. Not quite 33” tires, but close. My trucks a 2020 SR5.

Except for the Pro, all Tacoma trims are the same height.
All of the stock tire sizes are 30.5” or 30.6” diameter.

I noticed a very slight difference between my sr5 and TRD OR. OR is usually a tiny bit higher sometimes 1/2 inch or more taller than mine. it shows if I'm parked next to an OR the side mirrors are that much taller. As already said the stock tire on an sr5 is 245/75r16 and OR is 265/70r16. OR stock tires are a little taller. Some also put bigger tires on too. 265/75r16 is a popular size to move up to with no lift or moderate lift. that makes taller by 1/2 inch more.

Badass looking truck. I’m curious...why do you keep your lift at 3 instead of 3.5? And do people have a hard time getting in and out, since you don’t have steps? Particularly, shorter folk.

I wouldn't go any higher but that's me personally. With the larger tires and a 2"-2.5" lift that's all I need for looks and function. My F250 had a 4" lift on 35's and felt huge.

Honestly, I don’t remember which leaf pack I chose I can check after I’m off work. I did do a cab mount relocate using the cab mounts from Alpine Designs

As said above...it all depends on who views these trucks...imo, anything with much larger tires than stock on these trucks appear out of portion....on the other hand to some say they look cool. From what i see theres more to worry when lifting this truck...thats when the real problems can start...just ask a buddy of mine that did a 3'' lift.

I'm pretty sure that the wheel well openings and the frames are all the same (except for crew cab vs double cab). Sooo - a 3.5" lift and 33 tires will net the same results on an Tacoma?

That’s what I hear from some people. So why is it that all the custom truck shops that install lifts disagree with me when I mention the cv issues to them? I feel like it’s because those that have the cv issues must’ve installed the lift themselves and made some kind of a mistake. Just a hunch

I mean people will say whatever to get your money, if u ask for a 3.5 inch lift, they’re not going to want to talk you out of it. I’d trust the collective knowledge of TW. Once you start lifting that high, the angle on the cv boot is so sharp that the fins rub and can eventually tear, doesnt have to do with self install
