    I went through that same class and degree completion on a '20 fiat 124 spyder abarth. Same deal with the dump pipe too, for a 1.3 liter they gave it a massive exhaust.

    That's impressive actually. Just watched a YouTube video yesterday of James Clay racing his F80 around VIR. I imagine that little car feels like a luxury go kart. :D

    That's worse than my E36. I thought evolution was supposted to make things better.....

    Working on my Tacoma and my Land Cruiser both give me peace. Everything has at least and ounce of thought put into servicing it. The N55 in this 135i, well it doesn't haha. But I kinda get it too. It's really 15lbs of shit in a 5lb bag. It's got dual variable valve timing, variable intake valve lift (it uses this instead of a throttle body), direct injection, coil on plug, the whole damn turbo system, variable rate/pressure oil pump... It makes at least a little sense why it is so tightly packed, but I do wish there was more thought put into serviceability.

    The turbo charging system is kinda nutso, the turbo recirc (which is used to also control boost ramp) is like a BorgWarner EFR turbo where it's mounted right on the compressor housing and because the engine makes no vacuum (no throttle body) the pneumatic wastegate defaults to open and the solenoid feeding from the vacuum pump's tank closes it to spool. Both sides of the turbocharger can be controlled in the event of a failure of some sort.

    The whole thing is delightfully over complicated, but I have to say it makes for a sensational driving experience. The "throttle" response is instantaneous and the thing spools up beyond 15psi in the blink of an eye. It's got so many damn things to mess with I feel like a fish out of water messing with the tunes. You have to be some sort of genius to figure out how to dial in the variable valve timing, turbo ramp (recirc and wastegate), timing, and valve lift requirements. I have much more ability when it comes to tuning the DCT trans, less to keep in mind :/

    The E36 if it has the M50 is way easier to work on, I like working on those. They're little ticking bastards that never die as long as you keep that waterpump happy.

    Some more parts on order for the turbo project truck. Very likely a new Holset replacement. Well get that sorted, but in the meantime had to fix the power problem with the garage and house. Wanted to spend Wednesday and Thursday working on the truck. Couldn't.

    Ended up being a outlet that had the push in connections, rather than screw down. They were from the 80's. Had a poor connection on the neutral, for where it jumped to other connections. Replaced with new.

    Need to fix my wiring for the lighting in the garage, then time to make some progress on the weekend. I want to see how this thing feels.

    Also, the owner is getting the DMZ engine mount gusset kit, and going to fix the other highly troubled areas.

    You won't break it with the baby supercharger haha, well as long as your fueling and timing are fine. It becomes thermally inefficient long before you hit the max safe boost for a 5VZ

    Yes, but for those of us who are planning ahead for 400whp...

    Max I have heard of was around 18psi, but thats like the absolute limit. 15 is probably safe?

    Should probably plan for a built 5VZ then haha, 400WHP on one of those is gonna be damn near 460 at the crank and the 5VZ isn't robust enough to sustain that on its stock internals and even afterward it might be pushing it with the weak main girdle setup

    Oh yeah. But the real problem are the rod bolts breaking. Thats what actually gives out first. Problem is that you have to completely do new rods and cant just add nice rod bolts

    (470 by my calcs) ive heard of 430-450 whp is consistent give out point
