So I installed the anytime front camera which came with the dual front/rear rocker type switch. Everything was fine until I decided to swap the switch out for a single push button style switch. The new switch had different colored wires so I connected it a few different ways to see if i could get it to work. I was unable to get the switch to function correctly.

    UPDATE:
I figured it out. The switch needed a diode. So for those of doing the same or a similar situation this is what worked:

I ended up wiring the abc kit red wire to the ch4x4 green wire.

The abc kit orange wire to the cathode end of the diode (grey line on diode).

The abc kit green wire to the anode end of the diode (as a pig tail). I connected the pig tail wire to the ch4x4 red1 wire.

I tapped the ch4x4 red2 to wire to a stock switch that turned on with the dash lights.

    and finally

The abc kit black wire to a ground point.

The ch4x4 switch now turns on front camera as it should and the truck displays the rear camera when I put it in reverse.

The switch doesn’t dim with the rest of the dash lights but I’ll either have to live with it or figure out if it’s even possible to make it dim.

When you push the button twice, does your cluster light up? I'd start by checking fuses.

Update: so I spent all last night until the early morning checking all fuses and loose contacts from the switch that connects to the rear of the radio. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. Nothing touching and all wire jackets look intact.

This morning I jump started the truck and it started back up. My only guess is that since this is a used truck and I don’t know how old that battery is that the 30 minutes or so of leaving it in the accessories mode it may have drained it completely. As of now I’ll keep jump starting it until I can get a chance to buy a new battery since I don’t trust it anymore.

Don’t continue to jump start it.

Replace the battery as soon as possible.

Please never connect wires “different ways” again to see what happens, if you don’t know electrical find someone who does or you’re just asking for trouble. :)

Yeah I should have known better. Shame on me. At this point I have the anytime backup camera wires all where they need to go. It’s just the new switch that I need to learn to wire up.

Things happen and we learn. Do you have schematic diagrams for both switches you can post? If so maybe I can help.

So for those of you that are doing the same thing or are in a similar situation the switch needed a new diode.

The ch4x4 switch now turns on front camera as it should and the truck displays the rear camera when I put it in reverse.
