How long does it usually take for a truck with the latest ECU ID?

With plugging in, one page to sign, and setting up the tune takes literally 15-20minutes MAX. Likely 10 minutes.

So anyone wavering on the idea of getting this, I just had @Phich do my this afternoon before driving home. As soon as I left the parking lot it was a definite noticeable difference on how the truck reacted. All the way home the truck don’t hunt for gears as before but it did half to shift as I was driving into a good south wind in the way home. Chris a I talked for a little bit but that was half the fun. So far I would not hesitate on recommending him for this.

I got the LT tune for what’s it’s worth, came from the 2.0 beta version and it was a major difference.

I would ask that the people getting tuned look over the KDMax threads and read the many reviews of the throttle response "tip-in" options to familiarize yourself with their characteristics:

XT - pretty much for Manual Trans guys (and crazy people in my opinion).

Regular - pretty touchy high-performance throttle - gotta have a light foot! Some guys love it, including the K&D owners. For heavier trucks, 33"+ tires, in my opinion.

LT - My personal favorite - just the right amount and perfectly manageable but very noticeably a performance throttle. For mid-weight trucks, in my opinion, though my truck is only slightly heavier than stock.

SLT - definitely more response than stock, but very manageable. I believe otherwise stock and lighter trucks will prefer this option. Currently seems the most popular.

Wife Tip - don't be shy about it boys - it's a more stock throttle repsonse for guys who unabashedly like to drive on the mild side and, "Taker'er easy, dude."

I have read - and agree with - that those of you who spend lots of time in 4lo (with automatic trans) will probably like the SLT and Wife Tip options.
I have tested 4lo with the LT option and it's definitely more responsive, but also definitely manageable, but I'm not often in 4lo.

Kreg, the "K" in KDMax, will be there to answer pointed questions and he set the throttle values. He can tell you exactly what you want to know straight to your face so don't worry if you're currently undecided.

Good to hear and thanks Mark! Pleasure seeing you again!

For a wind like we had today, I think only a turbo or SC will help! Give that tune a bit to settle in and you'll be in tune heaven.

Edit - I experience that wind heading down to the coast - it's always bad along 37 from SA to Pleasanton, pretty much your daily route. Well bad if it's a headwind. I've also hit 22mpg along that stretch when it's behind me

I agree, no offense or bad meaning towards the tune as the wind was little on the harsh side going home. I will update ya again once I put another 300 miles on it in the next week.

Yep. When we did the last tune day in Phoenix, I let them choose the one they wanted, test drive it, then come back and let me know. Most people chose the one they wanted and it was perfect. One guy out of a lot had me change it.

Do any of these tunes increase mpg? What I am looking for is just a little more "pep" off the line, and then smooth shifting with better fuel economy. I drive in Dallas traffic daily, so the extra "pep" would help me merge with traffic.

Most people have reported better mileage. But we do not guarantee it.
You will definitely have more pep off the line and smooth shifting.
Check our thread out for reviews.

I personally get about 1-2mpg better since the tune. As stated, we cannot guarantee that, but it is likely.
And the shifting is very, very smooth.

If ya'll have any buddies with tacomas, let them know we are doing the tune on May 8th. I would like to add some more trucks to the list. I am going to drive over from Baton Rouge to help @Phich.
    Spread the word!!
