Oh... so you’re saying it’s nuts that they make that much money of the oil yet have no fear of supporting an alternative energy source? Sorry. Little slow here. Well. They are Vikings.

Cost is a big driver in renewables taking over fossil fuels for the electric grid, wind and solar are now cheaper in a majority of the country and gas prices are already higher than kilowatt hours (again in most of the country but not everywhere) and that gap will keep getting wider. It costs me $500 in fuel to visit my parents in my Tacoma, $120 in my Prius and probably a lot less in an EV.

In a truck, i'd give up speed for more range and torque.

My neighbor went from roughly $80 month in petrol to $35 month in the EV.

Even now only range is better but I’d be more interested in swim capability. The battery can be sealed but can the motors be as well? What happens to hybrids and ev’s in salted road country? A 400V winch would be nice.

Yeh everything is sealed, I believe it has to be at least an IP68 rating. Some videos show Teslas and RIVIAN's pretty much fender height water

I'm hoping the TriMotor can pull half (7,000 lbs) of its rated (14,000 lbs) capacity 250 miles w/reserve. I plan on putting a Level 2 charger at the house, but I also live about a mile from 20 Superchargers (off I-95). For exploring long weekends in the general area (New England) I'm hoping it will be perfect. Plenty of places to charge and with a low EV presence, finding one when needed shouldn't be a problem. Spotting an EV is still a bit of a novelty around here.

Honda announced today (4/23) that gasoline engine cars will be gone from their North American markets no later than 2040.

Apparently. But then you came back with you'd give up speed for torque and range but gas tacos only give you one of those so pardon my confusion. I only got 2 hrs sleep last night and it wasn’t at a Holiday Express.

Full EVs are also much cheaper to maintain. No transmission, diffs or tcases, even the EV motors have few moving parts that they don’t need regular maintenance. The only things that they replace is things like cabin air filter, charge AC etc. I think 5 year maintenance cost of Tesla is something like $1500, which probably is much cheaper than any car on that price range.

Washer fluid, tires and wiper blades are really the only maintenance needed.

I don't know, but for me, living here in Northern CA, I like to drive to Las Vegas [9 hour trip, one way], and it is impossible for me to drive there in an electric vehicle because the battery would go dead. Same thing pretty much goes for driving from the San Francisco Bay area down to LA, probably wouldn't make it and when I did make it, I would have to hope and pray to FIND somewhere to plug in my vehicle. I remember my neighbor had a natural gas powered Honda, and for around here, he knew where to find the very few places where he could fill it up with natural gas. But he couldn't take a trip in that either, because it was almost impossible to find evenly spaced out places where natural gas was plentiful enough to be able to feel confident in a road trip.

Unfortunately, the commenter didn't say about the trip "to pittsburgh", as to how many MILES the trip was. But the "notion that you can't go places is absurd",quote, that you wrote, is not absurd at all. It is a fact, unless one wants to take a chance and hope and pray to find a charging station. No thanks. Also, I mean, just look at the yard tools you may have bought over the years, such as a weedeater, lawnmower, etc, that were battery powered. Notice that they usually say they have a 30 minute run time, but when you get it and use it, you NEVER even come close to the 30 minute run time? That is my fear if I was crazy enough to get an electric vehicle, as the gauge may say that I have "X Miles" left before needing a charge, but there are so many factors that go into battery usage, such as how many times I put on the brakes, and therefore, use battery in my brake lights, or if I have the radio on, lights on, air conditioning on, etc, all of which, use the battery up. I don't think so. Too much uncertainty for me, in an electric vehicle.

And the data for this site appears to come from a company trying to sell charging stations. As a result it doesn't show nearly all the charging stations. I'm aware of several local to me that are not listed that have been there for years now.
