What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I didn't catch the brand name because we overnighted parts from Japan so it will decimate all lol. Seriously I didn't catch the brand but what I love most about them was that the LCA bolts have grease fittings in them so they can stay greased prolonging the life and keeping them from locking up

 

Thats what caught my eye as well. The zerks are a great design since these are known to seize up

 

I was pretty stoked when I got these in. Even my alignment guy said he has never seen anybody with these on their trucks that are serviceable. Hopefully they do what I expect of them.

 

130k miles. New 6112 Bilstein's (1st clip), Taco lean spacer, Stainless steel brake lines, OEM LCA, Camber bolts/hardware , Inner/outer tie rod ends, and all of the OEM nuts and bolts to put it all back together again.
I got the work done by my local shop who has been working on the truck for a while


I also ended up needing Inner tie rods, those were pretty bad on the truck. They aren't on here, $136.89 each side from the same parts store. https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com

I picked up the truck today. Holy Hell the difference is AMAZING!!! The front end feels completely different from all of the new hardware. Planted and responsive, no extra movement when pulling into parking lots and going over speedbumps. The shocks still needs to settle some and soften up but the initial stiffness is not terrible at all.


Currently sitting at 1.5" lift with it sitting level front and back. I was expecting at least .75" increase in height from the longer shocks and taco lean spacer. I set the shocks on the 1st clip. Once the shock settle I will remeasure.

Level truck front and rear w/ 1.5" increase in front height.

Changing all of the front components at once instead of a bushing hear and there made a drastic difference in feel. Adding the stainless steel break lines are a change that are worth while if you have old rubber lines already. I've only had the truck for a little while and it is great. The shiny new bolts and white stickers don't look to bad either.

What do steel brake lines do for you over rubber?

Man... that looks so good. Contemplating tackling the 63’s myself to get rid of these Dakar’s. Need some more pics

 

Steel lines allow for no expansion and therefore a firmer, more responsive brake pedal and feel. Rubber lines will deteriorate over time and allow the line to expand upon braking, delivering less force to the caliper, brake pads, rotor and wheel.

 

^^That. Toyota's often end up having a"squishy brake" feeling and sometimes long pedal travel until the brakes engage. This helps eliminate both of those.

My brake lines have 115k miles in New England. I could tell that the brake lines we're getting squishy from age.

 

If you carry a compressor, just air down your spare to almost flat. It'll reduce the circumference and make it squishy if there is any contact.

Today- ECGS bushing, 2 new axles, UCA grease and maybe I’ll do a coolant flush.

Yesterday- New air filter and some seat spacers from Dennis that I’m already loving!!! (Also added a new awning a few days ago!)

Tomorrow-Maybe a nice wash and interior detail.

Today I started to debadge my 2014.

Pretty simple so far, light heat gun on badge, 30 lb. fishing line easily cuts through adhesive. Then a little goo-gone, Mcguires Ultimate Compound and done. I did order a new set of matte black badges. Will decide what if anything goes back on.

 

Today I broke stuff. smh. Currently working on converting ALL interior lights to purple LEDs and I messed up my climate control cluster trying to do the AC and Recirculation button. Ugh. So I got a all black one (slowly working on an all black interior as well) from a 2012 and I’m going to do the conversion and change the lights then.

Also I broke my passenger window control on the master controller. And now it won’t roll down. So idk if I blew a fuse, which I checked some and didn’t see any, or if when the little arm on the board broke it was stuck in the up position and burned out the motor for the window. I got a new switch control so if that doesn’t fix it then I’ll look at the motor.

 

On a positive note, it stuck in the up position.
