They generally have stuff like higher detergent content, seal conditioners, etc. The logic being high mileage engines are more "tired" than lower mileage engines.

so would you say its necessary for over 100k miles? Or "its a Toyota, its just getting broken in. Use normal synthetic"

I just use the regular 5w30. The higher mileage stuff softens seals so they swell a little bit to presumably avoid leaks. I don't want seals swelling on my 100k yota truck vs a 100k chevy sedan on its last legs.

get ready to replace ignition cyclinder on that if not already done. Just learning these little quirks along the way.

Went on a test drive tonight, and I forgot to plug in the thermostat temp sensor. But still didnt fix. Have a new radiator and hoses on order. Also going to try to swap the thermostats again

Mostly availability of gas/mpg. At the time I was using the truck as my daily, so fillups were $70+. I went to the beach a few times and where I was, they didnt have premium available. I had the TRD tune. I had also picked it up from a friend who was parting out his truck, so I was helping him out. Then I in turn helped out @Darkgoatracer .

Proof it was there.. September 2018 is around when it was swapped to Nick's truck.
