me as well, I replaced everything from the front CAT backward last year due to rusted pipes. the 2nd CAT seems fine I just didn't want to deal with welding. if someone is paying a premium I'll put that towards fun stuff :D

I'd sell them on eBay. I just searched for completed auctions matching "catalytic converter scrap" and there's a pretty healthy market. Lowest they seem to go for is around $100, average probably closer to $300. List them in auction style and folks will bid them up close to their scrap value.

No Thanks I only deal in person.

Dealing with Ebay they can go with the rest of the scrap.

I work at a dealer and we have a scrap guy that pays us for scrap cats. No idea what the going rate is. If you have a friend that works at a dealer and see if he can talk to their scrap guy.

None of these skids or plates or whatever actually prevent a cat from being stolen.

They simply make it enough of a pain in the ass that they'll simply move on to the next (easier) target.

use them to setup a sting operation and find out who the buyers of the illegally sourced cats are.

There are legitimate shops around that will pay you for them.
Used to work next to a guy that recycled cats. He would go around to scrapyards and auto shops I assume and collect them.
I gave him a bad cat out of my taco and one out of an old honda odyssey and got like 85 bucks.

This. e.g. the skid row transfer case skid covers the front side pretty well. I'm hoping it's enough given our cats aren't particularly valuable.

It's from Desert Eagle Offroad, small business owned by a guy named Kent. No rattling, tight fit initially but otherwise happy with the product. Kent is super swamped with producing these Cat Deterrent Plates so try to be patient. I bought a plate for both my 2013 Tacoma and 2020 Tundra.

That is why these are advertised as deterrents, not prevention. A security system for your home doesn't prevent a break in, it only hopefully deters one from happening. The cat deterrent plate on my 2013 Tacoma completely covers the cats......if somebody wants them bad enough they are going to get them, but will have to bring some extra tools and put in the work to do it......

I've seen ads on craigslist asking for junk cats for $20 each. They must be getting more than that from the scrappers somewhere.

My cat actually was just stolen last week. Good on you for trying to stay ahead of it. I jist put in a straight pipe and said fu*k the new cat so now there's nothing for them to steal. Luckily they did me a favor and made nice clean cuts and didn't mess with anything else. Definitely a sawsall job for sure.
