Truth be known. I believe the law in every State is PEDESTRIANS have the right of way, Vehicles must yield. Especially, when the Ped is in a crosswalk.

In that situation, you were wrong.

If I see a vehicle I find appealing and feel chatty and see the owner, I'll let them see me looking at the car, smile and give a thumbs up. From there I can gauge their reaction. If I see them look away with no change of facial expression, stare frowning at me, reach for what could be a firearm, things like that I'll keep walking. If they smile back, wave and roll their window down, thats a cue to strike up a conversation.

You shouldn't let the one unicorn incident cause you to become jaded. Keep in mind there's all different kinds of people.

@PennSilverTaco Back to the Tacomas, have you been to Hawaii? I'm on the Big Island and I swear you'd have a field day here with Tacomas. All different mods and sizes, practical and unpractical, etc. haha.

Yeah dude I feel that. I lived in California for a year and the social aspect is way different.

Glad to live back in the good land now tho. People just interact differently down here in the South.. In the past two days I have asked two Taco owners “Hey, would you rather have a chrome bumper on your Tacoma?? :cookiemonster:“. I get laughs and polite No’s and “sick truck tho”. One day I’ll find someone with a black bumper that would like to upgrade to shiny. I hate the thought of spray painting it.. hasn’t a scratch.

Was thinking of the dashcam but I'm holding off until I get my truck back which could be a while..slim chance of never though I don't see that happening.

Call me odd, but I don't care for backup cams. I see the value for some but not something I use

It wasn't a crosswalk, it was a sidewalk, and I think it was at least 50/50 she started walking into my path as I was making the turn; I stopped, expecting her to continue walking, but her husband grabbed her by the hoodie and yanked her back. I continued, and that's when her asshole husband walked around to my window and became rather belligerent; Once he started being an asshole, he blew it, and I told him that if he didn't step away from my truck I would pepper spray him. He back off, while still taunting me, and I went and park the trucks.

One time I was late for work, and I rolled a stop sign with a crosswalk in front of it. A guy had been waiting to the cross the street, and he was just out of view behind a parked car so I didn't see him; In his infinite wisdom, he thought it would be a good idea to run up to my truck and punch the side of it as I was driving by. His fist landed on the B-pillar just behind the driver's door and scared the shit out of me; Once you lay hands on my property, you forfeit all rights to my respect, and I understandably started screaming at the guy. Was I wrong? Yes. But I've had close encounters in crosswalks when I was the pedestrian, and I've NEVER even dreamed of touching the offending motorist's vehicle!

Wow......both situations your were wrong. Granted, the ped was out of line punching your car.....but, I suspect you may have stopped in the Xwalk.

I walk my dog frequently, we cross many streets. I don't trust drivers as far as I can throw the Empire State Bldg. We always pause, check traffic. If I see a vehicle approaching, we step back. If/When the driver stops, I will wave him through after we make eye contact.

Then you have the other drivers who insist on stopping IN the cross walk. This forces the pedestrian to go around the DA's car to end up walking in traffic.

So, I don't trust anyone to stop and yield to a pedestrian. I wave them all forward.

Did you just assume the driver's identity?:eek:

In the great state of NJ you can now put an X on your drivers license for gender, boy I'd hate to be a cop in this state!
