What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Made maintenance easier when I lube the zerks on the u-joints by purchasing this:

 

Today was a fickle bitch. It invloved 4 separate trips for things, 1 to Homedepot, two to a local hardware store, and 1 to Oreilys. It involved a Sawzall, broken bolt, broken bolt extractor in a broken bolt, and a relocated bumpstop.
Let's just say Carbide saw blades definitely saved the day and a huge thank you to @crashnburn80 for the help. I didnt take many pictures but I installed new beck arnley LCAs and wheelers superbumps in the front. The good news is, at least one of the superbumps is in the factory location!
Total job time was roughly 9 hours. Truck does feel a lot less clunky over bumps, absolutely need an alignment now.

 

Did quite the upgrade on a friends 2nd gen today. Suspension overhaul and threw a new cv axle in.

 

That was more of a PITA than it should have been. Those Milwaukee Torch Carbide sawzall blades are money for sure, I'll never bother with buying another blade type for cutting steel, "Torch" is a very appropriate name. And man that sheared bump stop bolt got ridiculously stupid, fast. The Dewalt XR impact was also a huge time saver in dealing with the seized broken cotter pins, being able to just shear them off with the castle nut.

I did snap this one too with the first set of metal blades. You know it is going well when vehicle projects require a sawzall. Good times! Glad we were able to get you buttoned up and back before dinner.

 

Going to have to do some testing on my prototype bumpstop mounting location soon. Its wayyy better than oem

 

I might know a spot. I can engage my fancy factory hydraulic Fox jounce bumpers there regularly on the street.

 

It was about 9 hours of work between me and a buddy. I feel like 7 of those hours were spent just grinding and taking measurements. Well worth it though. I'd send you more photos but I'm currently deployed lol

 

Final fitment of my DIY roof rack. Time for some paint and start mounting stuff to it!

Installed a new oem lower control arm

 

It was warm and sunny yesterday so I finally got all the badges off the taco. Pics of the results in the rain today.

 

It seems like a lot of people with trucks our age are installing new LCA lately. I just did mine along with some other suspension parts earlier this week lol.

 

Those wheels look killer on a gray Tacoma.

 

Got an alignment. You could say some stuff was off. And ya buddy, working on new ucas lol

 

I swapped the sick green led for white in mine. You may find them either brighter or dimmer with a different color. There’s a resistor associated with each and every led in the truck and they’re pretty easy to swap. The lock button pulls off/snaps back on and after that you can remove all the screws through the printed circuit board to access the top side where the led and resistor are.

 

I’d like to see somebody bend the fairing to match the windshield. The top edge would need to be cut with a curve instead but I think it would look even better.

 

I'm basically a firefighter now.
