    ---------------------------------------

If you're here looking, you probably already know 2004 is the last year of the 1st gen Tacoma...and the 1st gen is the best gen! And you probably know that the 1st gen is turning into a desirable vintage/classic that will keep going up in value as fewer and fewer "good ones" are available out there.

If you are looking for a CLEAN Tacoma that will last you for years (maybe forever?), THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT.

    Why?
Oh, well, here are a few good reasons:

    - New FRAME. This was replaced under Toyota factory recall less than 2 years ago, along with new brake lines and leaf springs. Fluid Film protection applied in late 2019 and again in 2020. The elephant #1 in the room can leave now.

    - New LBJs (replaced with genuine OEM). Notorious weak point on these Tacomas. The elephant #2 in the room can leave now.

    - V6 mated with 5MT. Does it get better than that?

    - CLEAN inside and out. Well cared for, and meticulous records maintained.

    - Great tread. 265/70R17 Falken Wildpeak AT tires (one year old, matching set, around 11/32") mounted on lightweight GX470 wheels. Classy! Spydertrax wheel spacer to clear the UCA. Rugged!

    - Tasteful functional upgrades include Bilstein 5100 shocks, OME springs, and AAL in rear for a beautiful 3 additional inches of clearance! Also ECGS clamshell bushing (replaces stock needle bearing, which is a weak point and prone to failure) and front diff drop (reduces wear on CV boots). Also Low Range Offroad gas tank armor (skid plate)--get that weak stuff outta here!

    - Tasteful non-functional upgrades include black pearl OEM grille emblem and lots of stickers! Stickers can/will be removed on 4/26, unless you like them?

    ---------------------------------------

Sounds great, but "No 15-year old car is perfect" you say as you roll your eyes. You would be right. This Tacoma is not without its character-defining scars and perfect imperfections.

    LIST OF IMPERFECTIONS:

    - I need to replace the factory engine skid plate and will attempt to find one before sale.

    - Missing one headlight filler panel.

    - A few light scratches typical of a 15 year old daily vehicle--see more detail below. See more "needs" below.

    - One last issue with buying this truck from me...you'll likely see a grown man crying like a baby shortly after you get the keys and start driving away.

    ---------------------------------------

Still reading this?! Bored tonight? Want more entertainment? Here ya go:

Purchase a true timeless classic. Pamper yourself with an investment in one of the world's greatest-engineered and most-respected USDM pickups of all-time--Toyota's legendary 1st gen Tacoma.

Restore this beauty to 100% in your garage with your best buds, whilst making the best memories of your life. Or drive it as-is and enjoy dominating trails and/or Starbucks parking lots with this legendary beast of a vehicle. Buy it as an extra vehicle for your teenage son or daughter to envelop them in old-school iron that says, "you don't wreck me; I wreck you" to other vehicles. Stow it away in a barn, as market values continue to climb, and then sell it at auction to a collector and make your fortune. Keep it forever (it will likely outlive you) and roam the earth with only cockroaches, after the inevitable Apocalypse. I do not care...Whatever your flavor or goal, this vehicle is for you. More details below.

    ---------------------------------------

    DETAILS: GOOD, BAD, AND UGLY

    - Lunar Mist (silver), gray cloth interior.

    - 245,xxx miles currently. Runs and drives great.

    - 3.4L 6 cylinder with manual transmission. Shifts well. New Exedy clutch as of 6 months ago.

    - Clean and clear Ohio title.

    - Push button (ADD) 4-wheel drive works great. Dual range (4H and 4L). Factory electronic rear diff locker works great.

    - Well-optioned SR5 package: All power windows/locks, wipers, A/C heat, etc. work as they should. No dash lights or issues.

    - Aftermarket head unit was installed by previous owner and kicks some bass!

    - Meticulously maintained, with a large stack of detailed maintenance records. Oil changes done on time. These records/receipts + photos can be provided upon request. Highly detailed spreadsheet of maintenance (under my ownership) can be provided to buyer upon request.

    - Mostly baselined/refreshed (restored with genuine Toyota OEM parts unless otherwise noted) within the last year or so: timing belt + water pump + drive belts, spark plugs/wires, both catalytic converters (Magnaflow high-flow cats), belt idler pulley, alternator, CV axles (CVJ's "best" axles/boots) + BOTH axle seals + front diff fluid replaced (Valvoline), LBJs, LCA bushings (Whiteline), steering rack bushings (Energy Suspension) + steering rack guide, inner tie rods + outer tie rods, FSB endlinks + bushings (Moog), carrier bearing, clutch (Exedy) + pilot bearing + throwout bearing + rear main seal, fuel filter

    - "Needs," as far as I can tell, include: Brake life is less than half--Will include NIB brake pads with sale; will include a nice pair of rust-free (OEM) calipers and NIB rotors if sold at asking price. Valve cover gaskets (notorious with 3.4L) are seeping, but I check oil religiously and it has never read low. Last need: new owner who will appreciate this great truck. :pout:

    ---------------------------------------

    MY REVIEW:
Drivetrain: 9/10. As one of the most dependable and overbuilt "compact" vehicles ever made, this truck is a great example and runs and drives exceptionally well. The 3.4L heart just keeps tickin' and pumpin' power. 4WD high and low work and work well. Clutch is newer and has the right amount of stiffness.

Exterior: 8/10. The silver paint (original) is actually in pretty good shape for a 15+ year-old Toyota--still pretty shiny and in great condition overall. A couple of minor dings/scratches (mainly tailgate), but no major damage. No rust on body, except for a small spot on the bottom corner next to rear bumper (it is surface rust and it's solid underneath--see photos). Overall, above average, but not "car show" level. But it can be!

Interior: 8/10. Gray cloth interior in generally good condition with a few light stains (probably from greasy shop techs). No major damage or tears/holes. Light stains on carpet typical of a 15-year-old truck. Dash and other plastic is not faded or broken, and in good condition overall. Everything works.

Please send all questions and inquiries to PM/Email. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY.

    ---------------------------------------

I do not want to sell it...but my wife says I have to, and I want to keep my family together. Having said that, I love this truck. I prefer not to sell it and want to keep it forever (my original plan). Price set accordingly.

    ***SOLD***
Asking price $12,900 OBO. Open to reasonable best offers, but please no lowball offers.

    ---------------------------------------

***If you're near the Midwest: I will be in N.E. Ohio from 4/25 - 4/30 with a flexible schedule. Possibly again in mid-May.

***If you're near the East Coast: I'm working full-time on contract in the Baltimore/Towson area and can meet within reasonable distance (will be back in MD next week).

    ---------------------------------------

***FYI: Softopper bed cap is NOT included, unless truck is sold at asking price. A few small extras will be included at asking price. If you don't like the wheels, inquire with me for another wheel option (3rd gen TRD OR wheels).

    PICS OF FRAME/UNDERCARRIAGE

Frame is rust free. The reddish brown you see in the pics is pollen stuck to the Fluid Film on the frame.

    PICS OF ENGINE BAY

Been raining this week. But weather and work finally gave me a break. Here are some fresh pics of the engine bay and proof of timing belt replacement.

Congrats! Super clean truck...and from Ohio too I know how that state destroys these trucks.

I have an identical truck, 01 manual with 231k in case this one sells and someone is looking after the fact, in Florida.
