Just curious if anyone changed their oil before their first 5,000 miles?

Change it any time you want. More oil changes are better than less oil changes.

Dealer told me to come in at 4,000 - so I guess I will - in fact they already 'scheduled'
my service on a date, but I won't hit 4,000 then it'll be later.

I just had mine done last week, before that it was done in May 2020, almost 1 year. I only put about 6K on it in that time.

I do mine every 100 miles. Can't be too careful and It gives me piece of mind and better to do it than wait and those engineers who designed this truck don't know anything...
Change it when you want. It's your truck.

Planning on doing my first one around 3k and the rest at 5k or every 6 months. I don’t rack up that many miles and the probability of me reaching 6 months will be quicker than 5k.

I got them to change the oil around 4.5k miles on my tacoma, but they didn't change the filter. Told me their not required to till 10k miles. Well they finally did on my 2nd service visit.

I did my first change at 2600 as a break-in period change.

Wanted to get in there, install a valvoMax (similar to fumoto, but SS with hose attachment and low profile).

I've changed oil in my '96 Tacoma every 5,000 for the last 25 years and 414,000 trouble-free miles so no reason to do anything different in my '18 TRD Sport.

Lol we have 8 350s at work in the fleet and our amsoil rep swears they only need an oil change every 25k. My boss obliged. It’s been 4-5 years no issues with any of them. I would absolutely not recommend it but it’s kinda cool to be able to see the results when it’s not your vehicle lol.

if they use amsoil filter or equally good long life filter, and paired with amsoil oil, I can see fleet vehicles with 25k OCI if they are driven constantly and fewer heat and cooldown cycles.

Yes that’s exactly what the rep said. They drive about 15-23k in our 8 months of seasonal business. We’ve just made a practice to do the oil change at the end of each season. Definitely a good product.

First change at 1k. Will do every 5k from now on. Have 3 Toyota’s (‘11 Camry, ‘19 Sienna and ‘21 Tacoma) and have always changed them every 5k.
