Some insurance companies aggressively blame the fault on the other party or go half with blame 50/50. If you catch any of that bs, get a lawyer. Accident Lawyers can usually get the most money paying for their time with extra $ in your pocket. But if they take the whole blame and cover all repair, just take it to a good place and get a different car after your lease.

Don’t file a claim with your insurance company, but those at fault. Have them repair or replace as recommended by an adjuster. If you are unhappy with the recommendation, dispute it until you’re happy. Don’t sue. That’s a headache for everyone. Accidents happen, unfortunately.

Also, since it's a lease,. When you turn it in, I bet they check carfax and will ding you for diminished value. So be sure to claim diminished value once all the repairs are done. But don't mention it till the end. And look up the values yourself. Before and after an accident.

Guess who’s on the hook for something that isn’t fixed right at the end of the lease? You people HAVE to quit bending over and just accepting what insurance companies tell you. They EXPECT you to roll over and go away as cheap as possible. There’s no reason for him to accept anything less than a new truck in this situation.

Demand their insurance company pay for you a rental too if they insist fixing it. And I don’t mean pay part or pay half or anything, I mean pickup the whole damn bill for however long you’re without your truck.

Invest in armor. Don't replace it with oem front and rear. Just get something aftermarket.

No matter how good the shop is there isn’t a shop in this world that can fix a vehicle back to factory specs. Not a one. What you might call “good” would be unsatisfactory to me and vice versa. I’ve had two trucks “repaired” by “good” shops and neither of them were ever the same. Shops don’t have the machines that the factory has.

Actually, everyone up to here has been on point. Unless the op lives in a retarded no fault state. Why was florida brought up? Op never mentioned it.

Check with your lease holder to make sure they aren’t going to ding you at the end of the lease for something related to ‘major repairs’ or some such. If they are, make sure you get from them the requirements to not be ding’ed and pass those on to the at fault party’s insurance.

Unless of course you want to risk it.

Not sure it's been said but open the claim with your insurance and pay the deductible. You'll get it reimbursed and your truck will be repaired quicker.

Thank you guys for all your awesome input. It’s really cleared things up for me. I’m definitely going to call the other insurance and talk to them. I’m sure the damage done to my truck is going to cost a lot to fix. And I’m not coming out of pocket with any deductible whatsoever.

Yes, it iS true that some people actually go out of their way to be picky. I have a SIL that quit going to a top hotel chain because she found a booger on the wall BEHIND THE TOILET. And yes, you might be that guy that actually caught some small thing and took it personally... or the shop made some small mistake that they've never made before... or you went to the wrong shop trying to save a buck and pocket some insurance money.
